I read that book too. I'm not trying to split hairs but you said angle plug heads were not available until the late 80's vettes/ 199X vettes, your quote. My point was angle plug heads were available by Chevrolet in late 1969 to1970. Where these over the counter heads, yep thats what the book says. The book also says that they were installed under vehicle warranty and a direct factory replacment for the 186 and 492 straight plug head. So angle plug heads were out well before the late 80's/ 199X aluminum corvette heads, and I would guess these early angle plug heads were being installed by the factory, not sitting on a shelf in a warehouse.
"3973370....69-70...350..........over the counter in US, Canadian 350/300hp production use in Pontiac, 64cc, straight or angle plug."

shouldnt all block numbers be different from each other though it wouldnt make any sense for two motors to have same numbers or im just not understanding what your sayn there ha ha which could be possible, ive had a veary long day ha ha, and ya ive heard that 302s were only 4 bolt mains in 69
#32
A 302 is a four inch bore block like a 327 or 350, with the short stroke crank and rods that came from a 283. Anyone can go and build a 302 cubic inch motor with the right parts. Its not so much the casting numbers on the back of the block, its the "DZ" that is stamped in the front passenger deck.
#33
aright thanks im gonna look and c if dz is stamped on it tomarow cause im off work and ill let you no if it does, and with the book i have it says its a 302 with just the numbers off the block so idk but ya i will look for dz on it and theres two spots it should have dz right, under alternator and under timeing chain cover

the Z28 option was mearly a handling package. SOME got the 302, most got a 327 or 350.

Note: These are used for comparison. There are many documented cars which do not fall into these
guidelines. Anything could have happened on the assembly line.

I got that info from http://www.68rscamaro.com/camfacts/z28/, which I found by doing a search for "RPO Z28", seems pretty credible. There were lots of other sites with pretty much the same info.
#37
Another thing I just thought of, wern't the Z 28's supposed to be geared toward the Trans Am racing series which had a restriction on the size of the motor you could run? I think that is why they only got the 302.
#39
Yeah the trans am series racing limits the engine size to 305 ci.
