Talking 302 outa 69 camaro

I have a 302 outa a 69 camaro in my 1990 formula and i just recently found this out because i ran the numbers on the block and i no that these motors are veary veary rare. And i was wondering how much this engine is worth and this motor runs realy good too i drive this car everyday. And im thinking about selling the engine in the car or takeing it out and selling it and puting a 350 that i have in the car and selling it like that. So if anybody knows how much i could sell this engine for the please let me no.

Don't think it's all that "rare". The 302 was the standard engine for the Z28 but it does have some value to a 69 Z28 owner looking for his original engine. Go here and post it up and you'll get an answer. http://www.camaros.net/

So it is a DZ302 out of a 69 Camaro ? That is a rare motor. Not all 69 z-28 had that motor. It should have the vin# stamped on the pad on the front of the left hand side of the block.See if you can match that # to the car it came out of if so find the owner and see if he wants to buy the motor if not find someone w/a 69 z-28 to buy it.

My 69 has the double hump heads on it, they were common back in the day. I'd like to see the block casting numbers.

Every `67-69 Z/28 had a 302 that is what the Z/28 option is.

327 Block, Forged 283 Crank, Pink Rods, Camel hump (Fuelie) Heads,
Solid lifter Camshaft, Aluminum Highrise Intake, Holley 780, and don't forget the non pump gas friendly 11.5;1 Compression ratio.

The 69 DZ302 HAD A 350 4 bolt block that makes it different from the 67-68.

I'll see if i can help you determine when it was produced. I have all of the Chevrolet by the numbers books so you can get a good idea of what it is.

Block Numbers only tell half the story. Build date and the all important DZ stamp under the Alternator is what tells the real deal . 302 blocks also share the same casting with 327 and 350 they made the 010 block for a very long time this would be my guess of what you have i think 386 and 618 are the others. without the Dz Stamp and the correct date the casting number is not as important .

302's never had angle plug heads, angle plugs didn't come out on a production SB till the vette in the late 80"s

it was a 140 cam not a 180

Good luck

Angle plug heads were out well before the 1980's. I have a set of heads casting number is 3991492. Angle plug heads that were on early z 28's. Also these were the heads that came on the 70 lt 1 350. If you would like I will drag them out of storage and snap a few pics.

3991492 casting came on 1970 350 motors and was straight a plug head !! After 1970 casting 3991492 was over the counter at chevy and was offered straight or angled !! Chevy also made a 292 head that was called the turbo head !! Both the 492 and the 292 were the first over the counter head like the bowtie heads available now.

The first angle plug head was the alluminum heads that came on 199X ?? Vette's

I read that book too. I'm not trying to split hairs but you said angle plug heads were not available until the late 80's vettes/ 199X vettes, your quote. My point was angle plug heads were available by Chevrolet in late 1969 to1970. Where these over the counter heads, yep thats what the book says. The book also says that they were installed under vehicle warranty and a direct factory replacment for the 186 and 492 straight plug head. So angle plug heads were out well before the late 80's/ 199X aluminum corvette heads, and I would guess these early angle plug heads were being installed by the factory, not sitting on a shelf in a warehouse.

So the angle plug head's my friend had on his LT-1 350 were aftermarket ?I know they had Crane Fireball head's that were aftermarket back in the 70's and Bowtie head's but these head's had GM part#'s.
