Default '98 Z28 goes from black widow to bad as.

Hi fellow Camaro owners.
It has been really quiet from me for a long while now. So i thought i would update you on the previous Specialized Stainless Camaro, also called Black widow by me due to all the Black Widow spiders i found when i started to work on the car back in Sweden.

I bought this car in LA from a forum member back in December 2007.
It was a fresh car with good looks and 385rwhp. I got in love with the pictures so I went over.. payed a fortune for a old beater with good looks and newly built engine.

The car came to sweden on spring 2008, I was eager to drive and got a couple of miles when we still had snow on the roads.

Early June I went to the drag way and ran a personal best 12.66 with 182km/h. But the clutch and rear end got really damaged.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F0N_8MV7WA

This is "all" what have been done up till today.

I USA
Overhauled ls1 with APR bolts
LS6 intake, ported LS6 oilpump.
A&A Corvette tuned.
Pro 5.0 short shifter.
Arizen seats
OEM CME
Some other goddies

2008
Spec Stage 3 Clutch
EATON Possitraction, 3:73
Koni Adjustable
Eibach Pro-Kit springs
BMR adjustable Panhard
BMR LCA Relocation
Spohn LCA.
Sparco Steering wheel
Optima Red top battery.
Stainless exhaust.

2009
Was the year when i could drive the car for longer period of time. I probably put 4000miles on it.
330mm front brake upgrade.
6LE/MCnord gauge overlay, Z28 .
white turns signals.

The season ended dramatically. With an other broken rear.

When the rear end broke.. both the rear end went down as well as engine and trany.

That was done in September.

In early Marsh i took the transmission inside and started to tear it appart so i could have a look at all the gears syncros and fork pads.

A helping hand is always nice.

So far so good.

^Don't we love plastic fork pads!!

This is my first gear box disassembly.
And the shift "plates" moved before i could notice how they where.. does any one have more pictures of how they should be?

Now i am waiting for parts. so mean while the parts are stored in the shelf.

I have aslo put in an order on a new rear end.
Midwest chassis FAB "9 with Watts, 4.11 back bracing and powder coating.

same axle as Spike-Z has in his car

I Also started to take apart the interior.. it needs some paint and a new dashboard.. as well as a new carpet. So i tore it apart.

Before

This is how it sits right now. I want to paint the floor white or gray. Have not decided yet.

And this is my living room right now

I did also order a new front to the Camaro.. only to build some thing special from it.

This is the plan.

Now i have to line it up with the body, make it stiff, probably with some constructing foam, cut it in half, extend it, and when i am all done i make a plug out of it.. and make it out of glass fiber or Carbon fiber.

More as it happens!

Very nice. You going to put a spool in the rear so you don't have to worry about breaking it again?
Plans for the motor?
I like the facelift you have planned as well.... Keep us updated!

I think there will be their standard differential, No spool since I am gona drive %95 on the street. But if i need it later i will install it
Plans for the motor is supercharger or turbo, but first step is nitrous and maybe for next season i will put the power adder.

Thanks.

Yes it is. Ask Spike-Z about them. I think he got the kit from Kore 3.

Today i was in the best mood possible, went to the garage and started to remove the front end. I went underneath had a look at the radiator.. and I noticed that the radiator was not mounted in its supports. Then I noticed the support was bent..

I took of the front end.. and noticed that the front was from a salvage yard, '99 Camaro It was written on the inside of the bumper.

and if you just have a glimpse at the car from straight ahead you clearly se that the whole front structure is twisted and bent.

That confirms what i have noticed when driving.. I have noticed the car turns differently when to steer right and left. Also when i put it up on jack stands this fall i noticed that it was only resting on 3 jack stands. And it was almost 1,5cm ("½) of play.

So i have come to a dead end... I don’t know what I will do right now..

Holy **** that is not good... Any pics from straight on of the twisting?

Definitely makes you want to reconsider going too far on mods on this car.

If you weren't across the pond this would be sell it and start fresh thread

Jess thats for sure..I wish i never bought it.. It was pretty expensive as well.. and that sucks for sure, but not mutch to do about it right now.

I might try to do that. And then buy a low milage SS.

I have one other option as well.. I can buy a empty chassis and start over..

^^Seller was Steve and I know he never wrecked it. He probably had no clue either...

My friend Chris bought a car with a totally clean title that should have been totaled (owners never reported it). He fixed it up for himself and drove it and when done just parted the car out but if was shady he could have easily sold it as a clean Carfax car... You just never know
