So I've been trying to figure out how to get myself into a Fbody DD once again.
I was entertaining getting a V6 98-02 Camaro, but found that it's not that cheap of an option.
I've come across several nice looking LS1 Camaro's with around 100,000 miles from about $8000-$12000. Not a bad deal.
There are also some LS1 Camaro rollers with less than 100,000 miles and in great shape. Just needs and engine and tranny.
Ball park estimates...
LS1 roller for $2000.
LQ9 with stock heads, LS6 manifold and a mild cam for $2000? (
Headers and a tune, another $1000.
T-56/flywheel/clutch $1500
Other odds and ends $500?
So, that's $7000 for a 400 rwhp Camaro? Am I missing anything that would make this a deal breaker? It seems like that LQ9 is a torque monster, sounds like it would be a real blast to drive on the street.
I'm unsure about the wiring, but I've heard it isn't a big deal.
I know the iron block is heavier than the LS1, but it shouldn't be heavier than an LT1.
What do you guys think?

I would say get a 5.3L iron block and go with a turbo build or get a 6.0L iron block and do a NA build but really there's nothing special about doing a 5.7L build of any kind in an Fbody everyone does it

If your just looking for 400rwhp that is very easy to find, also the prices you have listed for cars is extremely high,i mean 9to 12gs can get ya pretty much everything you would want out of an f body,14 for a killer ride, your not going to find any good deals local,be willing to travel to find the best ride, just look on tech classifieds, youll see what im talking about, good luck bud,as far as a roller i would look for something with a cage, rear, suspension and wheel setup,i think westbuff texas was selling his ws6,had a killer fuel setup, rear, clean as all hell, suspension, fikse etc for i wanna say 8grand,

I've already got a 97 Camaro road race car, I don't need/want another race car. I'm looking to build a really nice street car. Not cage, no roll bar, no racing. Just something fun for the street.
BTW, I live in NASCAR country. There are a ton of nice cars around here. It's also a big area. I'm not afraid to travel to find a car, but I shouldn't have to. Like I said, there are a few $8000 LS1 Z28's around in really nice shape. But, I think i can do better. That's why I'm asking. I think I posted this question in the wrong forum....I'll start a new one.
