my 1999 z28
Bought about 1 month ago uk spec z28
Already had a few nice mods
US-spec door mirrors -euro ones are horrible
US-spec rear bumper
9x18 (F) and 10x18 (R) Boyd Coddington Junkyard Dog alloys with locking wheel nuts
SLP intake lid
Throttle body coolant bypass mod
Magnaflow cat-back exhaust with quad tips
Summit Racing 3.73 rear end gears
Eibach LT1 Pro-Kit progressive springs
Bilstein B6 dampers
Eibach front anti-roll bar
UMI rear anti-roll bar
UMI rear lower control arm relocation brackets
H&R 20mm spacers all-round
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 tyres 265 rears, 245 fronts
Power Stop remanufactured calipers powder coated red
EBC Yellowstuff pads
EBC discs grooved and drilled
Goodridge braided hoses
MBA anodised engraved Z28 shift ****
Redline Goods leather shift gaiter
Kee Audio Level 3 Premium speaker package
Clifford Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser
Overall cars in really good condition and only done 60k miles and engines nice and smooth and mechanically quiet.
Had been rolling roaded also at 325bhp on dyno dynamics rollers so not too bad
Looking to keep it fairly stock but so far have
Ported throttle body
Smooth bore intake pipe
Ramair element (horrible as it was massively over oiled)
Opened up base of air filter housing and done Cai mod.
Painted the wheels in Anthracite as didn't like the all polished look -didn't suit car.
Fitted black billet grill
Fitted clear front indicators (although not sure if I prefer them yet)
Future mods
Not sure
I might paint roof and rear valance black - although I think I am going off the idea.
Would like a bit more top end power but not spoil it.
Thinking of fitting Lt headers and Y pipe
Also not sure yet on removing the egr/air - can this be done with any handheld?
maybe hi-flow cats
I think that will be about it as don't want to ruin it

Clean car.
I would ditch the crossdrilled rotors (useless and can crack) and when its time to change tires get some proper fitting ones, those are super narrow for the width of the wheel. The tire size you have on the rear is still more narrow than what you should be running on the front...
9" wide wheel should be 275 section width tire
10" wide wheel should be 295 section width tire

Welcome from across the pond! I would definitely get the correct width tires on those wheels. The brakes should be fine unless you start doing autoX or road course hard core, then I would suggest switching out to just slotted rotors. The EGR/AIR stuff can be pulled easily, just need block off plates or wait until you run LT's and if you don't have to worry about emissions just but the race version LT's as they don't have the hook ups for EGR/AIR. I'm not totally sure if a handheld can turn those monitors off. Doesn't have the candy corn export tail lights?

The roads in the U.K. Are pretty bad and think the car would tramline bad with those widths also there's more pressure on the road so car will be better in the damp
According to the tyre charts they are the recommended sizes
Aparently the last owner said the car drove much better after going to the current sizes
Have ordered a diablosport predator and egr and air blanking plates so hopefully will sort these next

And that chart is total BS, from the FACTORY these cars had 17x9 wheels with 275/40/17 tires and many have gone to 285 tires, and some have fitted even wider tires on the same wheel for drag racing. While wider tires can make the car trammel more, a good alignment and good shocks help a ton.
Im running 275s on a 17x9.5" wheel and 315s on a 17x11in wheel (extremely common setup), so by that chart im somehow doing the impossible, when I have room on these wheels to run even wider tires if I wanted to.
THIS is a legit chart to follow:

It's because wheels are 18" you only have 35 sidewall so there's less flex so tyre has to be narrower than what you can get away with on a small rim with larger tyre profile
STD size was 245 50 16

If anything you would want a more wide tire to compensate for the lack of sidewall.
STD size was 245 50 16

And the ss/ws6 cars got 275/40/17s on 9in wide wheels right from the factory. That is the proper fit for a 9in wide wheel.

TireRack shows all the specs from the tire makers under specs. Sometimes the same tire size from different makers will have different optimum rim width, but all have a range of wheel widths they can work on. Of course, it's best to stay in the center of that range if possible.

First time 1/4 in the camaro
Car was going well but struggled for grip at airfield event
found traction control useless as kept cutting in badly so turned in off
Wheelspin all through 1st and half way through 2nd gear
I managed best 13.86 @ 105 mph, was hoping for bit better but think was down to road tyres and poor surface.

ls6 intake
car now has
slp lid
smooth bellows
ported throttle body
lt speed engineering 1 7/8" headers and ory
magnaflow exhaust
predator tune
free cold air mod
3:73 gears
some suspension mods
run 13.13 @107mph with 2.05 60ft at santapod
Am I likely to benefit from ls6 intake?
would like to get in the 12's if possible but not sure if its worth £450 !
cheers

LS6 intake is far better than LS1. might be tough to find one these days, I haven't looked. I'd think the LS2 intake would also be of some improvement, easier to find and cheaper, but need a 4 bolt throttle or conversion plate. If you can find a used FAST that might be the best way as they were good, but very expensive new.

New ls6 intake now fitted eventually!
Managed to break oil pressure sensor and had to wait a month for new one!
Also glad I ordered new seals as the originals wouldn't have sealed properly.
So far feels good but can't really tell as there's no grip this time of the year
Does the ecu need the learn that's there's a different intake?
Cheers Scott
