Decided I'd keep it simple and just go with the factory electrical gauges for now instead of building a custom gauge panel for aftermarket gauges but I still plan on doing this down the road at some point.
This will be used to connect the VSS plug on the engine harness for a T56 to a wheel speed sensor. The brake fluid level plug is the same 2 pin connector as the VSS plug for the transmission and I'll be sourcing one of those in order to connect to the driver side ABS/VSS in order get the speedometer working. We have SUX2BU from LS1Tech to thank for posting up a solution on getting the speedometer to work with an older style transmission. Fingers crossed!
Picked up this TCI scatter shield while at the swap meet last week. Getting ready to roll this thing under the car and start working on the fuel system. I'm so looking forward to hearing this car breath life and see it moving under its own V8 power. Debating whether or not to share the start up after writing the tune file to the car. We'll see.
Thanks guys for the kind words..On a side note I had a little misfortune in the 01 yesterday coming out of a turn and shifting from 2-3. The car lost traction at 45mph and I couldn't gather it back up before sliding off into a shallow ditch. The car looks to be fine with the exception of the lower control arm on the drivers side that is no longer in it's original position. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic when this happened but I'll take a soft embankment over a utility pole or vehicle any day of the week. Everyting is BMR suspension and rather than take a chance on something being fatigued it's probably best to just replace it. Definetly time to say goodbye to the BFG KDW2's.
All the parts check out with nothing bent or welds broken. Drive side lower arm was out of place pretty good but I managed to get it close at 101.5 inches driver side and 100.25 inches passenger. Good enough to drive for an alignment once weather permits. Incredibly lucky!
Man it certainly was. I was making a u-turn to head back home and wasn't more than a few miles away. I was coming out of the curve and catching third and it happened so fast that before I knew it I was headed to the utility pole. Fearing I was going to hit the pole I over steered and just couldn't recover from that before sliding somewhat backwards off the pavement. I've been needing to replace them for awhile now because they don't hook at all unless your on a concrete surface and I'm trying to squeeze as much life out of them as I can but the relationship is over.
The rear tires had 25psi in them the night before so I brought them up to 35psi which didn't help at all when they met that cold asphalt and my foot of course. For the 15"x 10" Eliminator wheels I'm thinking the Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S in 275/60/15 and something in 215/45/zr17 for the fronts which are 17"x 7" wheels. The current wheels are C5 replicas which look good on the car and have 275/40/ZR17 and 295/35/ZR18 so for those maybe the Nitto NT05 275/40ZR17 98W and some Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S in either 295 or 305/35R18's.
Nice weather today and I'm working on the car some. Got the old fuel lines removed and will be working on getting the engine in the car so I can start working on the fuel system.
I have to send the Bogart D10's over to a friend for some machine work in order to get them to work with supplied washer and nuts for the 5/8 studs. Ordered a new set of slicks today along with a fuel log some PTFE line and fittings.
Still working on thre fuel system but here's an update with pics
My plan is to come in from the front with two line and then out of the back two line into my FPR mounted on the passenger side.
Haven't been working on the car much since the rifle stock I ordered back in November finally came in from Richard's Microfit Gunstocks, Inc. The Claro Walnut is a gorgeous wood and no staining was needed to bring out its beauty. Had to do some work in order to get the receiver and barrel to fit properly and then a whole bunch of sanding to smooth the corners and get the stock smooth enough to start conditiong the wood. Here's a picture of the rifle's current condition. Here's what I used to condition the new stock. I used a 75/25 mix of tung oil and tru-oil.
I've been applying straight tru-oil followed by wet sanding with 800 grit. I'll apply a few more applications followed by wet sanding before moving up to 1000 grit and then polish. Never done this before and I'm pretty proud of the results so far.
