Default new to ls1

hello all, I just bought a 98 camaro ls1 with 23,000 miles. Its all stock except for cat back flowmaster exhaust. This is my first ls1 and would like to make a little more power. The car is a 6 speed, can you tell me of the basic bolt on's. My goal is to get the car into the 12's but still be realiable without cutting it up. Is it possible or am i dreaming.
Thanks.. Curt

12s are going to be a joke for your car. Typical LS1 M6s run between 13.9-13.0 bone stock (variables include driving skill, track conditions, etc.) 12.9s and even 12.8s have been achieved bone stock with many 01-02 F-bodies. A high flow lid, catback, headers, sticky tires and some good driving should get you there.

Get rid of the Flowmaster first and foremost. If you want to hit 12's with minimal mods, get a lid, better catback, and some tires. If that won't do it, get yourself long tubes and be done.

Depends on your budget. The GMMG is my choice, but it's pricey. If you want something that flows well within a budget without rasp, go with a Hooker. If you want the best flow and dont care about popping when the car is warming up, go with a loudmouth.

hooker exhaust is a nice flowing exhaust for not too much $$$
the 'king of the hill', so to speak, of an exhaust for a fbody is GMMG (in my humble opinion). but that one's a bit expensive.

It's LS1tech. We all have great opinions.

And as far as the GMMG goes... I had it on my SS for about 3 months. I sold it to my buddy for his car because I'm going duals in the spring. My buddy is getting rid of his hooker once he puts my GMMG on. Right now I'm just running around with a loudmouth off of my other buddies car who just went duals.
