You have an LT1 don't worry. Your car did not come out with the Z rated tires and as such got the 110 mph speedo instead of the 150 mph speedo.

Or, maybe the seller Installed a v6 cluster out of a wrecking yard due to low mileage difference. Maybe the original one had high mileage. Just a thought!

My Firebird came with a 150mph speedo, but it still has the limiter for not having the Z-rated tires so i dunno.

The engines are baslically corvette engines, except for a different intake and exhaust style. Also the fuel rail covers. Maybe the cam specs.

If your auto goes PRND32 then you have 2.73 rear end gears which was most often the option without the Z rated tires. Its what i have. They only ommited the 1st gear downshift because it wouldnt pass the noise deceleration in 1st gear. If you remove the top of the console you can get to the little plastic piece and cut it off. I did it with a hacksaw blade in about 3 minutes while i was waiting for my car to warm up.

Yep and you have the limiter also.....need to be reprogrammed. Even the shitty Hypertech can do that.

Vettes had 4 bolt mains, ours only have 2 bolt mains. There are other differences making the power output differences. Its not the same as a vette engine though, I hate when people walk around saying its the same as a vette.

Alot I'm not sure of concerning the speedos and tire ratings, but as for the engine crisis, If it is a V8 and it's got some *****. it's a LT1, not a transplanted L99 and I'm sure you could tell the diff it's a V6. As for the difference in the F-body and vette LT1's is the cam specs. It was only a mere 10 hp difference but the same heads, intake, 24# injectors, etc. All vettes had 4 bolt mains though and very few F-bodies, usually late in the year builds, got a 4 bolt main block due to shortage of 2 bolt blocks.

Other than the 4 bolt mains, they are vette engines in everyway. From the cam to the heads. They are rated at different outputs, but actually dyno identically on chassis dynos. I should know, I own one of each

The only LT1 Vette that cam out with a different cam than an LT1 F-body was the 92 . Just check out the LT1 Basics Sticky in this forum it list all the cam specs for every year.

It maybe, I have heard of some F-bodies getting 4 bolt mains, but for the most part, unless you had one of the 100 1997 SSs with an LT4 (which I sadly do not have), it should be a 2 bolt. I guess I will find out when I pull the engine out and drop the oil pan this spring
