I'm curious...what is the fastest time for a V6 Camaro? Those 3.8 liters run pretty strong for what they are.

 

Not sure what the fastest V6 is, but there's a guy here in the twelves.

Record is 12.3 right now.

My friend Keith has a 97 Firebird, I'll cc him this thread...

He went 14.0 stock motor and 12.3 with spray.

He went 13.6 last year with a cam and some headwork but the car will go 13.3 with better tuning. We plan to spray the car into low 11's in the early spring. He's a moderator at www.firebirdv6.com goes by Magnus.

 

Wow..that is some pretty impressive numbers. An to think that those thing stock could outrun the V8 IROCs of the 80's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

120 dry shot went 12.8 at 104and made 291 rwhp and 362 rwtq
100 wet spins to a 12.48 and just under 108 mph and made 315 rwhp and 380 rwtq
Keith runs a 12.38 at 104

If I could just hook on a 100 shot then I could go faster than a 12.48, sigh, I'm working on it.

Oh, and a forged bottom end is in the works before May 17th

My brother put the 3.4V6 motor in his Fiero GT with some port work and a GM performance cam he dynoed 150RWHP with a better intake and exhaust the car should see 160. Stock the Fiero dynoed 110 so it was a big improvement.

 

A stock 3.8 A4 goes ~15.0 so Keith's 14.0 is quite an accomplishment.

A quick rundown on the progress I've made with the car:

15.5 with 3.08 gear
15.1 with 3.42
14.9 with headers
14.7 with 2800rpm PI converter on streets
14.4 with 3500rpm PI verter on streets

Adapted LS1 TNT nitrous kit.
Sprayed it with 100 shot and went the 12.3@104 on a 1.6 60' on nittos.
Removed nitrous kit.

14.2 with nittos and skinnies.
14.0@94 with 3.73, nittos and skinnies.

Then I did heads/cam and 4.10 gear.

13.8@96 with god aweful tuning issues.
Unplugged knock sensors *don't ask*
13.6@98 still with low timing.

I have a couple more tweaks and think I should definately hit 13.4@100 with this setup. My main goal now is to blow this engine up with nitrous. I think i can hit low 11's on a full slick on a welded 3.23 rear end.

Next engine will recieve a larger cam and bigger stall and perhaps I can hit 12's NA.

James has a fast setup as well, with traction he'd hit the 11's too.

Key thing is i'm .9 faster NA now then I was when I ran the 12.3 on a little 100 shot. That difference, add slicks and more nitrous and a trailer to get back home I should definately run something good, i hope. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

V6 will never sound as good as V8. Da's why i be doin the swap. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Of course they are cheaper to fix also, but if you wanna play you are gonna pay.

A few years ago I saw a black 3rd gen V6 Camaro run 9s.

NMCA 10.5" tire race car, engine based on a BUSCH series V6 with lots of spray too. Of course now BUSCH runs low comp V8s.
