Default B4C Police package?

Anyone on here own a B4C Camaro? I am preparing to buy a 2001 model when it comes off line with the Hwy Patrol. Any one have any tips on what to look for when inspecting it? All help is appreciated.

I had a 9C1 caprice (B4C for the Impalla SS) Look for how well the police equitment was removed (radios, lights, pushguards ect...). Check the interior for exsesive wear and tear.

Other than that just the normal stuff you'd check on any car your buying.

Good luck with the car and if you dont mind me asking: how much are you buying it for?

8k is what they are selling it for. It has 75,000 miles on it. I know the trooper that has driven it since it was new. It hasn't been wrecked and other than the driver seat needs repair, it looks to be in good shape. They have to receive regular scheduled maintence by policy, so i know it's been serviced properly. I'm new to Camaros and I was shocked to find that it didn't have a metal body. The car is still in use, but will go out of service in a couple of weeks.

75k isn't bad for a ex-cop car, mine had 91k on it when i bought it and now has over 100k so your lucky.

The one really good thing about B4C's is that theyre all hardtops (no t-tops) this means that you wont have to deal with the leaks that come with t-tops. Plus they look alot better IMHO.

Heres a good informational website: http://www.9c1.com/brochures/2001/01_b4c.pdf They have specs on all police issue vehicels.

That link was very helpful. Thanks This is a pic of the car I am looking at. What are the best low-cost bolt on mods that I can add to improve performance?

I just got an ex-cop car too. It was an unmarked car though. I got it for a smokin good price but it's high mileage, and there's a couple things i gotta fix, like the alternator is goin out, but that's to be expected for a car with all that stuff they have running all the time.

The only difference between the marked and unmarked camaros in our state is the silver decal side panel with the logo on it. They don't have light bars on top.

Looks good, heres a write-up on performance for LS1's: https://ls1tech.com/forums/new-ls1-owners-newbie-tech/361959-so-you-wanna-fast.html

Baiscly the cheapest things you can do is get an airbox lid, then maybe some LT headers and a cutout. After that it starts to get expensive.

Does an airbox lid make that much difference with a Camaro? I suppose it's like removing the air silencer on a fox mustang and free up the airflow.

It makes quite a bit of difference. It's probably the best mod that you could do for how little you spend.

Is just the lid replacement sufficient or should I go with the whole kit from SLP? It is supposedly a cold air kit. Is it worth it?

IMO save your money and just get the Lid. Do some checking into the free mods and you'll pick up as many ponies with those as you will with the SLP package

Free mods? Help me out here on this. I know very little about the LS1 engine or camaros.

Most free mods I advise not to do but some arn't bad like !AIR and !EGR.

The free mods are some little tricks to help snag a little extra power for nothing if they work or not is debated.

You can fab up your own ram air bypass your coolant remove your EGR if you have it and take out your AIR.

http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm Lists the free mods and great how tos on installing or fixing things.

this may be a stupid question, but is it illegal to drive a car that's painted to look like a cop car? like if u were to buy that car right there, would it have to be repainted or ne thing?

All the police decals are removed before they sell it to you. Yes it will still have the black and white paint but thats not illegal. Hell my caprice still had the searchlights mounted to the A-pillars (damn those were fun )
