sports cars are typically two seat rwd fast as hell and decent handling capabilities

the Mustang when it was created was to give the average person something that looked nice, went fast and could still be used for something else...

the F-Body in general was the answer to that.

btw DZ28's in road races ftw
I agree with everything you say, except the smallish coupe comment. 4th gens are big cars, especially in comparison to an original Camaro pony car, and even compared to my old third gen.

They are pretty big, and you should've seen me when I first got the old v6. I used to drive it like it was a viper (with the long nose). I finally got used to it and now I handle my SS like its a neon. hahaha

Default Sports car "looks"

The question is how a 4th gen camaro looks. I say it look more like a sports car. The new mustangs look like muscle cars and so will the new camaro when it comes out. But..how it drives is a different story. Now the 4th gen Firebird/TA look more muscle to me just b/c of body styling and any camaro with a hood scoop also looks a little more like muscle.

And if you start adding bigger rear tires...more muscle.

But on average for the ones I see and the 2 I own I say sports car looks / muscle car performance.

I'd call it a modern muscle car, because of what it is(V8, RWD, solid axle rear, etc.), but to me, it just doesn't look the part.
Nah the Camaro looks like a muscle car sitting next to a sports car.

I mean look at a Honda S2000 next to Camaro!!!

I am not alone! Thank you! Here are my definitions:

Sports car: Two seats, world class performer that can accelerate, corner, brake, and scare your mother into a coma. A car not to be subsituted as a truck, or carry large quantities of **** for road trips. Either small or no trunk at all.

Pony car: Capability to seat 4, a mid-size 2-car car, that can give somewhat comparable performance to the sports car. It' s a car you get into, not put on like a wet-suit. It' s suitable for a small family for a weekend get away. Most have a trunk atleast large enough for a suit-case (third gens and fourth gens being an exception to the this rule).

Muscle car: Big engine. Huge pig of a car with 2 doors, can fit your family, and your neighbor' s family, with a trunk big enough to make the mafia envious. It accelerates like a mad man, but don' t ask it to turn or stop. Although, with all the newer technology out, performance can be vastly improved, but the vehicle still classify as it did in it' s hey-day.

Sports cars don't have backseats, therefore it's a muscle car.

Does that make an RX-7 a muscle car then???

Of course a RX-7 can only hold 14 year old girls in the back seat....

Jailbait...

It also depends on how you drive it that makes the difference between a sports car and a muscle car...

That's what the last guy I talked to that had an RX-7 said.

"RX-7's aren't that small they are a four seater."

I then responded saying that the Camaro doesn't have 4 seats it has two. Any grown man who calls the two dips in the back of a Camaro seats has problems (midgets/little people excluded they have a reason not a problem).

Plus the RX-8 has 4 seats AND 4 doors.

Yea, but I was serious. My uncle had a first gen RX-7, and it didn' t have anything resembling a seat aft the two buckets. Atleast in an F-body, kids could fit in the back seats atleast.

compare the 4th gens to everything else produced RIGHT NOW and tell me it's not a muscle car...times change, they are muscle cars without a doubt.

A Camaro looks like it can whoop your ***...
A Trans-Am is already on the way to do it

I love F-bodies, have a trans-am and a camaro, i call them my racecars

To me there isnt a stock car out there that looks meaner than a WS6 TA. 2nd would be a Camaro SS.

Kids and midgets...

Oh yeah, jailbait can fit back there too.

As for a pony car we should get away from that moniker. Pony cars stopped being pony cars when they stopped building boaty muscle cars 30 years ago.

I mean what a 'cuda, a F-body, and a Mustang. Three cars don't make up an entire group.

Lets just say a muscle car is a car where power is more important that handling, and a sports car is a car where handling goes over power.

A car where handling and power is equal is called a corvette.
