I love my 4th gens and all but man everytime I look at my 88 Bird and my Iroc all I can say is wow if only weren't screwed by the mullet phase! My Iroc is a great driver..she handles excellent more now than ever as I put all new suspension in her and my TPI is so fun for daily driving with the lowend torque only a TPI can give you. Its not as comfortable as my T/A but its my baby! Never gonna sell it...T-Tops down and fun in the mullet machine!!! Now only if I had the ballZ to grow a mullet that would make your all's day!
You are really making me miss my 87 IROC. I remember seeing those cars roll down the street and rumbling like they were just pissed off. I like the hood louvers too. They were just the best cars at those times. It's nothing compared to my SS, but I loved the intimidating looks they gave.

Hell, read my sig. I've got a 1st gen, a 3rd gen AND a 4th gen. I've had LT1 and LS1 cars. Have to say that the 2002 LS1 car I have is the best of the bunch. Eventually if/when the 3rd gen dies (if it ever dies - it's got 207k + on it - it's like the damn Energizer bunny) it will become a track car as it has virtually no options - no pwr windows, no pwr seats, etc - and I don't think it weighs over 3200. The 1st gen on the other hand I've had for 20 years and will be buried in when I die

You hit the nail on the head here. When I go from the 3rd to the 4th it feels fat and sluggish at the steering wheel (I know it's not, but that's how it feels).

i got both, and like both.. i like how easy it is to work on a 3rd gen not that the ls1's are hard but they are more cramped. i hafta say my third gen deffinitly grips the road better then any other car i have driven(as long as your easy on the gas) -thanks to all new front end parts polygraphite bushings and the best shocks i could buy - koni's traction bars etc.... its like it was glued to the road even with skinnier tires then my 4th gen. my 84 was easy to get hp out of, very easy+cheap. i know my 4th gen is superior at the dragstrip (atleast on street tires) the 84 built just has way to much low end tourque and wont stop spinning the wheels - i ran a 14.5 in it spinning all the way up to 4th(letting off to get traction).. the interior of the 4th is nicer but the backseat in the third i can actually sit in. might just be because my 4ths a vert, but i forget what my sisters 99 hardtop is like. some parts are deffinitely easier to find for the 4th gen though.. manual transmision related . it took me days if not weeks to ever find anything related to the third gen with a t5.. imo neither is totally superior to the other. stock for stock though its gotta be 4th gen hands down. i do prefer the looks of the 4th gen's alil more too.

I like the look of a mint Iroc-Z. I also like the third gen car's interiors and the way they drive. Powerwise it's LS1 car all day long.

I've had about 20 Camaros and Firebirds through the years....2nd, 3rd and 4th gens,
my favorite has to be the 4th gen based on power and build quality....but as far as style I've always liked the 3rd....

I like the looks of the third gen and the power that the fourth gen cars make. So I bought a 91 RS and put an LT1 in it.

I voted 3rd gen, I used to have a shiny, clean 350 IROC, built motor, trans, high RPM stall, and 9-bolt, would spin street tires to 70 MPH at WOT then it'd hook and take off like a rocket. Believe it or not, all camaros have a mullet image (mostly perpetrated by slow import owners or hillbilly ford owners in denial lol) and if the car is beaten up, rusty, and dirty, it doesn't matter what generation it is, it's a piece lol. A clean, pristine 3rd gen just looks better with it's sharper lines and smaller size. Powerplants are irrelevant, 3rd gens can have any SBC under the sun thrown between their fenders and a built 350 is a force to be reckoned with, doesn't mean much to say a 305 is slow and therefore 3rd gens are. No one plays with stock cars. LS1 4th gens are nice, but they seem to lack the soul of the 3rd gen. I've never been a fan of the simpson shoe LT1 though, no offense.
