Default reverse lock out wiring question

i am running a T56 behind my LQ4. I originally removed the reverse lock out but now i am thinking of installing it to avoid grinding the gears going into 5th, especially when someone else less familiar is driving.

my question is, how are you guys wiring it? I am thinking of using a relay triggered by pressing the brake, except that every time i hit the brake the solenoid will actuate. Any other suggestions?

Why not just wire it into the PCM like the factory did? or are you running carb`ed?

I just used a Husrt Line Lock switch with a 12v (ign) to one term and grounded the other. Have had no problem doing this so far in the past 2 1/2 years.

You can do what you suggest or even off of the Clutch switch. But I just kept it simple.

Install a Switch & powered circuit or wire it into the PCM.

What PCM and Harness are you using?

You could leave it disconnected and then it wont allow it to slip over while driving. You would just have to force it over to hit reverse.

I have the truck harness and computer, so if I wire it into the PCM i would have to figure out the wire output. So if anyone knows the PCM and can tell me how to wire it that would be great. But it seems like there could be a simpler way.

I don't think I would use a clutch switch because it would continue to allow it to go to reverse when switching gears. Now that I think about it, i don't like using the break to trigger the lock out either, I would always have to come to a complete stop apply the break to engage reverse.

I don't think i want to force it over with either, seems like too much hassel.

maybe i could fab a spring which would require applying extra pressure to engage...

We did that with my brothers truck. Over 12k on it without issues.

I figured it out! Too bad I can't get the photo to post.

Anyway. Take the reverse lock out solenoid apart. Remove the actual solenoid then take the plunger out of the mounting bracket. Once you have the plunger out there is a c-clip holding a heavy spring between the plunger and a stop. Throw the c-clip across the room and reinstall the plunger leaving the spring in between. This will feel just like factory and provide a positive feeling when engaging reserve without accidentally grinding gears when you really just want 5th.

As for the hole left by the solenoid, do you drink wine or champagne? Use the cork, it will thread right in...

Try using a rubber freeze plug in place of the cork.

Does anybody know what all has to be hooked up to make the reverse lock out work like factory? Is it just power on the pink wire and the light green wire to C2 44, then hook the CPP switch to C1 32 and the other side to ground and it all works? BTW it's a 2000 LS1 harness.

Thanks in advance.

Here are the schematics for them. I also have that in a bigger pic if you need it.

From the schematic it looks like you are right, switched power to pink, lt green provides ground.
