Default Project "SVT Chevy" now blown!

So found a hell of a deal on a 89 notchback Mustang and couldnt pass it up. Its a 1989 4cyl, auto, pretty much bone stock and unmolested. it literally was a grandmas car i bought from the grandson for $700. runs good, a/c, power windows, mirrors, doors and everything.

Anyways im thinking on gathering parts to swap it (well after i finish 6LE's Grand national). Ive been looking through some of peoples build threads and couldnt find an answer.

can you use the factory k-member for a LS swap or do you need an aftermarket one?

plans would probably be a nicely cammed 5.3l but not sure yet on what trans i wanna do. was thinking staying auto cause i have a random knee problem.

heres some pics.

You can but theres more exhaust options with a tubular kmember and its saves a little weight. another option would be to get a 4.6 kmember and simply use some 4.6 to Ls adapter plates and BRP is the only company I can thing of that makes mounts for the stock K. Also check out http://hybrid-pony.com/ tons of info on the swap and a few informational builds

I like the ford blue engine paint. I thought about doing the same to mine, for my Stang, but I didn't have the heart.

Nice swap! How are you going to get this past smog being the motor is GM in a Ford vehicle? Doesn't the vehicle code state it has to be from a newer model vehicle of the same manufacturer?
