nolimitpkr's 1975 LS swap bracket build
Just wanted to share some pics and details of my buddy’s car (nolimitpkr) that I’ve been helping him build over the past year or so. We started this build with the intention of it being his new bracket car for 2015 but due to some health issues and other logistical reasons, this didn’t happen. Even so, I still wanted to finish the build and it is pretty close to where it needs to be before hitting the track, which I hope to do so later this year just to see how it does.
The car:
1975 Chevy Nova
Plain jane car that had no motor or trans when he bought it and set up for manual column shift transmission. Clean car, zero rust though it has some parking lot dings here and there.

Motor:
For now the motor is a bone stock LQ4 6.0L topped with an Edelbrock victor jr. intake and holley hp 750cfm carb with mechanical secondaries and a 3in tall k&n filter with a 1 inch drop base. With this combination we were able to retain the stock hood.
Since it’s a bracket car we weren’t to concerned with ground clearance so we used the gmpp (h3) oil pan since he had it already. Dirty dingo sliders were used to adapt the ls motor to the stock clam-shell style mounts (energy suspension polyurethane). The sliders allowed us to position the motor to where the transmission crossmember bolted to the stock frame holes.
An msd 6ls box controls the ls2 coils.
Hopefully in the near future we’ll have another motor built (5.7L) with forged pistons, 243 heads and a healthy cam.

We used a g-force crossmember to work with the th400 and for exhaust clearance. The th400 is built by Jake's Performance. A 4l80e flexplate and spacer allow this setup to work with the ls motor.
Interior:
Interior consists of a couple of cavalier bucket seats, stock instrument cluster modified for autometer gauges and ignition, fuel pump, and fan switches. A b&m pro ratchet shifter controls the trans.
I made some panels to cover the holes behind the rear seat since we’re running a fuel cell. Still have a few small holes to cover, but hopefully this should get us through tech…hopefully we’ll get a back seat in there to cover this stuff up.

For exhaust, we ran a set of pacesetter 4th gen camaro headers which feed into a dual 3” jegs exhaust kit fitted with dynomax ultra flow mufflers. You can see how much the driver’s side header kicks out and some minor clearance to the trans ear on the passenger side was required but other than that fit great.

the Car Craft cover with the 77 Nova Concours on the front cover was a build by D. Freiburger (now with Roadkill); some back in 2005 recall the magazine cover where a malaise era Nova was featured but CC later shuffled their articles around (as of 2017 it has been dormant and there is no mention of it on Roadkill since)...
