Our LS4/4T65E Fiero conversion

Not really a Fiero any more, but a stretched Fiero kit car (Lambo Diablo). Guess the little V-6 was not getting it done, so we are installing the new setup wtih heads and cam, Shrifter, and Momo wheel. Not sure about the PCM just yet. Will probably end up using a BS3, but not 100% sure yet. Only have a few shots so far. We made a brace to suspend the combo, and have removed some of the cradle and the cross-piece installed when the car was stretched. These will be replaced with similar structure that works better with the LS4 mounts. We will also be eliminating the displacement on demand stuff.

That should be a screamer! The LS4 is the ideal way to go on any transverse mounted swap.
I would think the stock computer would be the best way to control the whole assembly, but I know you guys are big fans of BS3.
Keep us updated.

Like I mentioned, I have the factory service manuals but nothing in electronic format. Let me know if that's of any help.

It appears we have finished what we need to do with the cradle. Since our engine came with all the rubber mounts still bolted to the engine, we figured out how to employ them. We have also torn down the engine for the heads and cam. Since this car will not use power steering, we will just gut the pump and use it as a pulley to maintain factory belt routing and length. The resevoir is eliminated.

I just started looking into this motor/trans for my next swap into one of my Fieros. I just really started reading about what it takes to get rid of the DOD and what can be used to take its place. Will be watching this Thead for information on the install.

question is that a 60 degree bell housing on the ls4 block? dose it come in a manual transmission that you can run the linkage up to the front instead of out the back?

Yeah for me to start looking into this swap and even thinking about buying anything for it, I am going to get rid of my 5 speed 3800SC swap thats in my 88 GT. I have lost interest in it since I have the auto car and I know the 5 speed car will never compare. Reading all I can now about the swap and what it is all going to take, looks like its not going to be easy.

Please keep us posted on your progress ! I'm currently working on dropping an LS4 into my 85 GT. I'm tearing the motor down now to have it bored up to 5.7 specs and getting it ready for a cam/lifter/valve/spring swap. Here is a link to my teardown/build over at pennocks fiero forum. Oh and mustangsbeware you have a pm on pff.

do you have any measurements on the mounting points? also, stupid question but is the trans behind the motor when mounted in the car or in front. what side are the pulleys on?

I havent seen any updates on this build in a while, is it still happening? I am working on mounting my setup to a cradle now but will be using an 88 cradle. Will be using the same method as above for the engine side but going with a differant setup for the trans. Going to use to mounting mounts for it instead of the single middle mounting point. Will all be mounted with poly mounts so there will be no give.
