Default fuel line question...

I'm almost done with my lt1 swap in to my 81 firebird. I was wondering if it would be safe to run rubber hose to the fuel rails and for the return line. Is the pressure too high for rubber? I'm not too good at bending fuel lines but if this rubber hose doesn't work then I guess I gotta practice.

get good EFI rated line and you will be ok, EFI hose clamps would be a good idea too

Id avoid the rubber except for testing only. You can get push lock plastic line kits where you can make efi lines but the stuff is pricey.

Do you know if your factory lines were 1 piece or if they had rubber splices half way?

I ask as you could have someone push lock flare your line on either end and then just buy some push lock fuel lines at your local auto parts place.

Haha i ran rubber lines for a transcooler all the way. Had no idea they see 100psi+. Worked fine for like 50 miles no problems. I cant imagine 65psi through a braided steel line being too much. Mine said they were rated to 55psi but i dont see rubber bursting through a braided stainless webbing.

Just make sure what every hose, tube and fitting is rated for the pressure and type of fluid you are going to be using it for, with that being said, Rubber hose that is rated at EFI pressure, heat and type of fluid can be safely used if installed and used correctly.

It many not be a good idea to run Rubber hose completly from back to the front. Heat sources (exhaust), Suspesion and chassic movement may be harmful or not recommended to be near or close contact with and failure may occure.

A combonation of both Rubber, metal tube or Stainess Steel braided hose should be used in the correct condition and location of your install.

Yeah the car is pretty much done except for the fuel lines. Its pretty much just a tin can with a stock lt1, solid motor mounts built th400. Nothing really special. I have only spent about 120 bucks on the whole project. The car is pretty light.
