Headers are in. They hit the outer tie rod zerk fitting at full lock to the left on the pass. side, and just kisses the idler arm at full lock to the right. also, the o2 sensor bungs are to the inside of the collector, and are very close to the 80e.

Pass. side:

looks good, they came out after i already bought mine. I wonder why they pre-determined where your o2 bung would go. They came in the package but you weld them on later..

yup, i would like them to the outside, but i'll work around it. i got the suspension done (finally) - had to fab some spacers for the a-arms. i rolled her out last night and swept the garage out. i also finished my fuel system. i'm running a summit fuel cell, so it wasn't terribly difficult to design the system.

engine is at the machine shop. just need a few more things (well, pistons, cam, pushrods, TB, torque converter, etc. etc.), then i can assenble and toss the engine and trans back in. then i'll have to mess with the harness and get the driveshaft modified.

i would include pics, but i don't have the camera cable with me right now. i'll toss 'em up this weekend though.

here's the fuel system setup:

and the filter/reg:

Looks really nice. Regarding the motor, that certainly is not an 01. It was either a 99 or 2000, per the iron heads. It also has a longer crank snout than other LS engines and will not bolt up to a 4l60e (it's been proposed that a LT1 4l60e may be compatible, but not one that came behind an LS enigne). I'd say just use the 4l80e. A 4l80e with shift kit will easily hold 600 horsepower in that chevelle.

gmc... ouch. nova, not chevelle. but i quickly found out that the setup was indeed an iron-head, long-snout-crank engine. i was told it came from an 01 silverado, and i'm sure if it did, it was one of the last of its kind. and i am keeping the 4L80e - it's easier, cheaper, and can handle some power. plus i've already mocked everything up with it.

slow - not sure yet where the pcm will go. haven't thought that far ahead. i separated the engine harness from the 'electrical center', but i haven't done anything with it yet. it will most likely end up bolted to one of the inner fenders, although i'd prefer to put it under the dash.

Id love to mount mine under the dash too but I have no idea how to get the harness into the pass. compartment without cutting a big hole to get the harness ends through.

im Subscribed!

i have a 73 i am going to start and just reading this thread has answered alot of my questions! i was going to stick with a th350 but it had no highway ability with 3.73's and a 26" tall tire the sucker hums.

so i want to go 6.0l 4l80e i hope to have a motor and trans in a few weeks so i can start. the car is about half apart now. i want to take the sub frame out but i think the sub is was welded in when we ladder bared the car <-- stupid.. i blew the blower motor up last year and the car is a mess under the hood so some thing will have to be done.

but here are a few picks of what i am starting with.

the now blown up 350

you guys were talking about 10 bolt wheel studs

my thoughts exactly... i was going to look at removing the blower motor, cutting a hole, then patching it back, but that's more work than i want to do.

73 nova guy... i've pretty much got this thing figured out, other than the harness. pm me if you have any questions. i'll prob. start a new thread when i'm finished for a much better-organized build thread. i've got 3.90s with 27" tires now, and this thing screams on the highway. the OD will be very nice.

Put mine on the firewall behind the driver fender, clean out of the way but I would need to remove the wheel well to access it.

mine is currently mocked up under my dash have not ran the wires to through the firewall, there is plenty of harness, although the fender is a good idea you would just need to run all those key hots and consistant hots out side the to the ECM, which is no biggie.

I ve been eyeing some of these nice grommets that summit sales to hopefully clean up the big 1.5" hole i would make

Got my LS3 intake assembly (complete with fuel rails, injectors, fittings, etc.) this weekend. I was out of town, so I didn't get any pics. But I'll take some.

Here's my harness... I separated the engine harness from the rest of the "junk" (see below). I've got a few resources to help me sort through the rat's nest (harness modification info here, pcm pinout info here, and some more helpful info here), but I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions anyway. Since I just rewired my car about a year ago with an American Autowire harness, I don’t want to mess with the current fuse panel. I do plan to use the factory fuse panel somewhat, but only to connect the engine harness to. Note in the last picture that several wires were clipped. I'm not sure at this point what they are for, but I think they go to the '80e.

Maybe you could loosen your engine and frame mounts and shift the motor slightly rearward to gain more header clearance at the steering link. It doesnt seem like much movement but I've done it before.
