Pull that motor back out and clean/paint the engine bay. You'll wish you did later. I'll be filling all the holes in mine here shortly then painting it again. No more swiss cheese.

Looks good. Let us know how the headers turn out. I'm looking to do the same thing. I've already got a set of SS flanges from a past project.

heres the headers welded and just high temp painted for now so they dont rust, i'll put em later and get these things coated.

drivers side, 3rd tube back is hitting the brake line and close to the frame, 4th back might need to be moved to fit the steering rod

pass side, fit great

more pictures later

Good looking car and good lokoing swap!! You could have grabbed a can of semi-gloss black engine paint for a few bucks and freshened that bay up... Then you could still do your repaint later. Either way...I wouldnt mind taking this swap on some day. I have a soft spot for the old foxes.

Man...I never realized how many holes were in the engine bays!!! Are those all factory holes? The strut towers look like swiss cheese!

Good luck with the project!

J.

The older ones have a few less holes. When ford changed anything on the mustang they just added new holes and left the old ones in place. They probably considered it weight savings for gas mileage. lol The 79-81's have a lot less to fill.
