Ls1 Isuzu Pickup
Little project truck that me and a mate are working on. It's a 1990 model Holden Rodeo cab chassis utility. In the USA, these were called a Isuzu P'up.

We're trying to run 10 second 1/4's for a $10,000 outlay. So far:
$400 for the motorless truck
$1200 for the low milage 2005 Ls1
$50 for Th350 to suit rebuild
$50 for diff and tailshaft
$725 for Camaro rear sump setup
$50 for radiator and 3000cfm thermo fans
$40 for water pump
$56 for engine mounts
$24 for rear trans mount
$145 for Bosch 044 fuel pump with alloy bracket
$40 for rails and throttle body
Free injectors
$2780 total
The big expenses to come are the auto rebuild, an Ls1/Th350 stall convertor and the converted harness.
Hopefully the finished truck will be under 3000lbs.

Right mount/header done:

After dummying the motor in the bay, we decided to cut a band out of the trans tunnel to get the motor further back. We also had to swap over to a Camaro sump setup for it's rear pan.
Motor and gearbox are now in and mounted. Modified some Holden Special Vehicles headers to fit. Over the weekend we hope to finish the trans tunnel and see whether we can use a modified factory tailshaft.

We're also seeking an engineers advice re cutting 10 inches out of the chassis to shorten the wheelbase.

Thanx guys. Yeah they are quite common over here. Tomoro is a lot of running around picking up parts. Would REALLY have prefered a complete motor but the long one was too good a deal. Got to go into the city tomoro for the rails/coils/tb.
Hoping to get the diff conversion done this week and shorten the chassis (if the engineer agrees with that)

Went and picked up some donated injectors last night
Engineer has given approval to shorten chassis as long as we run bracing plates inside it. Finished the tunnel today and hoping to get onto the diff/chassis tomoro. Also still running around for parts.
Gotta take the fuel tank down to a mate's workshop to get a surge tank welded to it. This is the fuel system as it stands now. By adding a 5 litre surge tank to the back, will bring capacity up to 25 litres which will be adequatish.

Yesterday I went down to Sydney and picked up a throttle body and fuel rails. Also dropped off the fuel tank to have a surge tank/extension added to it.
Today the chassis got cut, plated and reattached minus 10 inches of rail. This brings the wheelbase back from 119 inches to 109 which should help with traction a bit.

You can see from the droopy handbrake cable how much has been removed.
So the motor is now in and mounted. The tunnel is done, welded and sealed. The extractors have been modified and are now fitted.

Tomorow the Borg Warner diff will be modified and fitted and the truck will be coming home for me to do the fiddly bits over the next month (or two)

obviously, there arent alot of people doing swaps into "pups" but I have a buddy putting in a 4.3 and I was wondering what you did for motor mounts, or if you made your own used some stock configuration? Any advise helps, thanks.

Nah mounts were full custom. Had to make brackets off the chassis forward of the crossmember and brackets off the motor. Used an aftermarket rubber as well. Most of the reason was that we made the mounts around the factory extractors so I don't know how this would pan out in a 4.3 setup

Started dummying up the rear of the truck over this weekend. Trimmed off some brackets and cut another 8 inches off the back of the chassis. It's only getting a tiny little tray setup. Cut out a section to run the battery as far back as I can. Still got the auto cooler/fan setup to mount in there as well.
