LS1 into 96 3.8
Alright, I will be getting a salvage 98-02 Camaro for my swap. I know what parts need to be swapped over. Now most of my questions are about the wiring for this and the clutch hydraulics. What will I have to do wiring wise to make this swap work. Will the master cylinder i already have work? Will the slave cylinder still work, they look the same from the one i have on my T5, just unsure if the T56 uses a larger one. I only ask because they are brand new from my 5spd swap last summer.

He did answer your question in a way............. If your doing the swap, you should be well aware of what your getting into. If your buying a wrecked one, use EVERYTHING from the LS car. Makes life pretty simple, lots of work, but as straight forward as it can be........ Im just finishing up the swap on my '96,actually have it up on the rack right now. Good luck w/the swap

I will be staying in touch with you. Were you an LT1 or a 3.8?
From what I understand you have to repin wires? The wiring is the part of this swap that has me the most puzzled. Everything else I know what I have to do.

Yes, mine was a 3.8/auto car. Details and some dated pics in my garage- Ill take some off my phone when I get down to the shop this morning for ya. Both of my motors are getting put together right now, so the bay looks pretty bare, but Ill help ya with what I can. Pm me if you have any ?'s, but best advice is to take your time and dont rush it- meaning dont plan on taking it apart on Friday and having it back together Monday morning for work!!!!

Maybe if you work on it all day and all night....
The wiring is the hardest part.
Putting the engine in is simple.
What are your plans for the fuel system? LS1 is a returnless system. IDK about 3.8s, but I know LT1s had a fuel return.
Are you going to delete any emissions or anything?
My issue was that I deleted stuff, and am in the process of modifying the wiring harness.
If you just want a stock looking system and your fine with wires going everywhere, I suppose it wont be too bad.

I am planning on leaving everything stock. I am replacing the sending unit and fuel pump with the one from the V8 car along with all the fuel lines so i should be covered there. I just want a stock LS1 in my car, when I come home from overseas in 2012 I will further with modding. Right now going from a 3.8 to an LS1 is a huge "mod" for the car. The thing that had me the most on edge is the wiring.
