Default oil sending unit

where is the best place to tap into for the oil sending unit? I heard that you can tap it where the oil cooler lines come out, can you run the oil cooler and still do this?

If your doing the cheap budget thing... and going to use the stock location, just take the OEM one, break off the plastic sender part, take the lower part, drill and tap it to the correct sender threads and you have a no cost adapter.

Thats what I have done. I put my Chevelle warning light sender there and have used the F-Body bypass plate to use my aftermarket sender (drill and tap the plugged part). That way I have both the original idiot light and a pressure gauge.

I used the thread adapter for my oil pressure unit

and drilled and re-tapped the passenger rear head for my temp sender

How do you get by using the original oil sending outlet? Do you not need to send the oil pressure to the computer also or is that not needed?
