Default Turbo Buick 6.0L w/ TC70 Turbo

Guys,
I've drug this project out for nearly a year now. I plan on firing it up next week. Yesterday I bolted the headers on. Finished the fuel system plumbing. Mounted the throttle cable bracket. I'm half finished with the wiring. A few things are gonna be tricky. I rotated the radiator outlet on the water pump, then heated it and bent it downward another 20 degrees or so. I'm still now completely happy with it though. I may just weld a short bung to the water pump and get a 90 degree hose end. The turbo oil drain hose barely fits behind the AC bracket and it goes horizontal for 5" before draining into the pan. I'm not sure if that's gonna cause a problem. Finally, the hose from the thermostat housing is gonna be close to the hotside pipe. I'll try to take some pics of that in the next day or two. BTW, Let me know if you're interested in a TC70 with less than 100 miles on it. I haven't even started the car up yet and I'm already thinking about upgrading! LOL Quik said that it would run out of steam by 6K. I'm thinking about upgrading to a TC78. I'll sell it for $700 shipped.

I'm getting real close. I didn't get a lot done this weekend, but did get a little closer. I still have to install the lower radiator hose, and wire the fuel pump and fan relays, then tidy up the wiring. It shouldn't be long now.

Thanks for the compliment. You can certainly use the TC70 on a stock LS2. Even with the meth, you'll have to sneek up on the tune. I'd like to see around 600 hp and 650 torque at the wheels, but my real goal is just to get a 9.99 time slip (or around a 6.30 1/8th mile slip).

It's alive! I fired it up for the first time last night. I still have some issues to resolve, primarily low oil pressure. I'm going to install a new oil pump tube o-ring and try shimming the spring as well. Hopefully that'll fix the problem. Then it's time to have fun!

Here's how the pipes are routed to the turbo. The downside is that I only have 3.5" of ground clearance. The upside is that it leaves me room for the AC compressor. I may notch the crossmember and/or use some oval pipe if it seems to be too low.

I've fixed the low oil pressure issue. The oil pump O-ring wasn't sealing properly. Since I had the oil pump out, I also ported it and shimmed the spring 0.150". It holds a solid 60 psi at only 1000 rpm now. I also mounted the XFI and XIM boxes and the new TCI Outlaw shifter. I still need to wire the reverse light and neutral saftety switches, as well as the alternator and the engine fan. I hope to be cruising in it next weekend.

That is freakin sweet. I really wish I had the funds to do that in addition to my LS2 swap in my Chevelle. Maybe in the future. I can't wait to hear how that thing runs.

I just realized that I never answered your question. It's a stock LQ4 shortblock with some Texas Speed ported 317 heads and a mild custom Comp Cam. It's 222/224 at .050 around .600" lift and 114 LS. The only mod to the shortblock are the ARP rod bolts.

As far as the transmission, it's a TCI transbrake 4L80E trans and converter. It's still an 8.5" rearend with 3.42 gears.

No biggie, I was gonna suggest checking the o-ring on the oil pump if you had the motor apart.....

I'm stoked tonight. I drove the car for the first time today with the 6.0 turbo in it. It's running very good, but I still need to spend a little time tuning it, and also need to bolt on my HR Parts rear sway bar before bringing it to the track. I put the lightest spring in the gate to start with and didn't get it over 5 psi today, but it still felt good. I hope to hit the track soon!

Kevinturbot, nice looking Buick but of course I am a little partial to Buicks. That Buick should run REAL nice. What is that console from? Looks good in there. Good luck and keep us posted with some time slips.
