bolting trans up. 6.0 to th400
i know this has been covered a million times but I'm still not sure what i need. i have a 6.0l (how do i tell if its the short or long crank?. i have TCI 399753 flex plate. i also have a FTI ls1 to th400 converter. if i bolt up the tci flexplate will the converter bolt right up? or do i need the crank spacers? or do i have to use a stock flex plate?

01+ 6.0's had the normal crank. they also have aluminum heads. if you have aluminum heads you should be good. the large part of the crank should be nearly flush with the seal. the longer crank sticks out 1/4" or so.
i think you are set. that flex plate is for an ls1. your converter is for an ls1/t400.
i am 99% sure the 2 options are.
flat flex plate, spacer, normal t400/sbc tq converter
or curved flex plate, no spacer, special th400/ls1 converter that has an extra long snout on it. seems like this is exactly what you have.

need a pic of the back of the crank without the flex plate to be sure if it is the short one.
i have never used an after market flex plate. if the one you have is flat i dont think that will work with your other parts.

That hole is for the oil pressure sensor.
Looks like you have the dished (4l60e) flexplate and the short crank without a spacer,.
You can either get a spacer, put it behind the flexplate and oval out the torque converter bolt holes a little. Or grab a 4l80e flat flexplate and spacer and put the spacer in front of that flexplate.

from what i have been told and since im installing the exact flexplate into my buddies car tomorrow with a LS1 TH400 convertor, you do not need any spacers, just bolt the flexplate up and go.
I will let you know 100% by tomorrow bc we are installing it around 12-3pm.
