bellhousing bolts

bellhousing bolts

ok, so I need the bolts to mount my 4L80E bellhousing to the back of my LY6 and the guys at my local dealership are idiots, and say they cant find them unless they have the VIN # off the truck it came out of.

So do any of you have a part# or know where i can get these things? thanks

bfrank79, thats the new thing now. everytime one of my buds go to the dealer to buy specific parts, they asked for a vin #. if you bought you setup for a bone yard, maybe you can ask the seller for the vin# of the vehicle where the engine came from. trust me, you r not he first.

It is because they don't know anything about cars and they need the VIN to make their computer work. My local Chevy dealer can't even find an oil filter.

The bolts are M10 x 1.5 x 40

can i use bolts for all of them? i thought there were a few studs and nuts too

Depends on how factory you want to be. If you want to use the combo bolt - studs GM used for mounting stuff (trans tube, grounds, etc), go ahead. Beyond that, bolts work just fine. I'm using GM bolts without the integral studs.

If you walk past a GM truck with a V8 on the used lot and give the VIN to the parts department they can get you the parts you need. You could also use the VIN for the engine you have - my scanner can pull the VIN from the PCM, but I got it with the engine from the breakers yard.
