Job well done! You saw an issue, worked on a solution, and the end result is a great running car. Come on 9's!!!

"I now have exactly 5 gallons in the car. I ran it through the gears and it feels good."

That is good news. I may follow suit depending on how my car reacts down the tract. I like the way you did it.

Awesome... How many gallons you saving? if you save 12 gallons, that is just under 100 lbs..... so using the .1 per 100 lbs guestimate that will make you 11.07 a 10.97 and put ya int he 10s!!!

My tank is 21 gallons. I was able to run as little as 3 gallons problem free. So that is an 18 gallon difference(108 lbs). I made passes back to back. With a full tank and full nitrous bottle(25 lbs.) the car went 11.23@119.4. With 3 gallons in the tank and no nitrous bottle on board, the car went 11.05@121.3.

I could not have been more pleased withe results.

I am going to try and get a picture tomorrow of my friends Chevelle and show you how he did his cold air setup. Something you might want to consider.

Went by my friends house today with the big block 69 Chevelle. This is how he has his cold air setup. Hope this can give you some ideas. This is an 8 second car.

I have looked into getting a Cowl hood for my car. To get one built that is bolt on to factory hinges, it would be a grand by the time it is one the car.

Not sure if you have seen these. Just wondering what could be done with it. This from OPG so it may be cheaper somewhere else. Here is the link.

If I had to guess, I would say it is a Fibertech hood. There is no place for a pin-on hood on this car. This is a street cruiser.

I figured you have already touched all the bases concerning the hood. Your skills are pretty good and I thought maybe you could do something with that hood. But it looks like you have already been there and done that.

I actually tried to get a group purchase going for bolt on 3" cowl hoods on v8buick, but the interest was pretty thin.

I am a little surprised you haven't used your welding/fab skills to add a cowl to your existing hood. Sounds like a good project for you next winter.

Or buy a second 65 Skylark hood for the cowl and keep your hood as is for the future.

He will get it when the weather cools off. Heck maybe just running skinnies up front will do it.

I was wondering if my car will make 100mph in the 1/8". Looks like I will probably just miss it. I will be running the Hoosier P275/40R17 D.O.T. drag radials in the rear and skinnies up front. Thank You for posting the time slips.

I looked through your thread again but did not see where you dyno tuned the car. Maybe I did not go back far enough(page12). So if you did go on a dyno what RWHP are you putting down?

I also saw where your car weight was 3500 pounds with the spare tire and a full tank of gas. So your car may be 150 pounds lighter than mine.

Last time out the car weighed 3780 with me, a full tank of fuel and a full nitrous which bottle. I am 175 these days. That puts the car at just over 3600 in that state.

With my new fuel tank mods, I can run 15 or so gallons less fuel. If you take the fuel weight away, that would be good for 100 pounds. I can pull out the nitrous bottle too for another 25 pounds. If I do that in some good weather, that will be good for some 10.90s N/A.

My car is carbureted. It was not tuned on a dyno. It was tuned on the track. I did wheel dyno it once at FL2K. It made 440 hp @ 6600 RPM. It is a few MPH stronger than that now. So, that number is probably a bit higher now..
