Turbo Rail I loved your thread. I have a 66 Buick LeSabre, that I plan on putting a turbo in maybe 2. I already have the engine, but its a 5.3 ltr. You have shown me alot on what to look for. Question. Did you have clearance issues with your oil pan? Thanks in advance.

The first time that I rode in a muscle car was probably around 1970. My older sister was dating a guy that had an orange GTO Judge. He took my buddy and I for a ride and even ran it through the 1/4 mile outside of town where all the hot rodders went to race. I'm pretty sure that I was hooked at that time. Love those GTOs, and yours (your dad's) is very cool.

we set the motor with the pan on in the car and put it where it needed to be, then mounted the motor mounts to the frame.

If you just use the bolt on stuff then I believe you will have clearance issues.

you may also have issues with your power steering pump hitting your steering box

Update is. It's sitting exactly as shown inthy last pick. It's been so damn hot I haven't wanted to work on it. Now that it's cooled down I'm getting the itch to work on it though ao shouldn't be too much long before the motor is out. I'm about 2hrs from pulling it. Just need to start working on it first

Thanks guys. Right now it's in the same place as the above pic. I was going to start working on it this week but it hasn't happen yet haha

I'm prob going to put in a different cam while I have it apart for bearings and maybe add a support bracket for the turbo and clean up the engine bay while it's apart Other then that it's all going to be the same and hopefully it will be back on the road soon

The happy tapping squirrel in the bottom end. If I would get my but in gear I could have it out in one night but I've been lazy with this Texas heat. I need a beer drinking buddy to come help an keep me entertained I think haha

hi turbo rail.nice build.i like the turbo set up.i am doing a 5.3 in my 68 camaro with a76mm turbo.i was just wondering if all the passes u made at the track was on 8lbs of boost and if so are u going to up the boost to around 20lbs and let it eat.great car.there is a guy here in town that has a wrecked 69 gto that he is steeling the parts off and putting on his lamons.i think he is going to sell it once he strips off all the good stuff minus vin tag and id tag.if i end up with the car it will be that bright azz orange.my fovorite.agian.great build.

Thanks... yes all the passes were at 8psi and IF it gets turned up at all it would only be to 10psi. I would love to see what kind of power it would make at 20psi but don't want to have to tear it apart again

10/24/11 update...

still not much progress. John is supposed to come over this week to help me get it out and see how bad the damage is. Once the motor is rebuilt I promise I won't take as long to put it back together

UPDATE: Finally got my lazy *** out in the garage and pulled the motor out and got the crank out. i saved the motor when I shut it down at the slightest sound of ticking. the number 1 rod bearing did not spin but it did haev a little of the bearing stuck to the crank.
I took it to the machine shop yesterday and they think they can get the bearing pieces off and polish the crank (not turn it) and I shoudl be good to go.

dad called yesterday and said he would love to drive the car the week of his birthday 12/12 guess i need to get this thing back together.

I also got that 1959 Galaxie back a couple weeks ago and it MIGHT be getting a litte 4.8 love this winter just so I have a FI reliable fun car to drive around
