And now for the fun stuff. I bought this spool gun a couple of years ago and it finally got used tonight. I have never welded aluminum until tonight. It is weird welding this stuff. Its almost like soldering and not welding. I am still dialing everything in but did make some permanent welds with it. I have decided to build an aluminum frame to house the radiator and fans.

Here is the first attempt to weld aluminum. These will mount to the radiator support via bolts and will support the bottom of the radiator. I will add a cross bar to fasten the fans to once I get it in the car and get a real world measurement. I will make a removable top portion that will also tie in the fans.

Very nice, and you can take pride in your dedication to the build. When I felt like procrastinating the next step of my build, I would check on your conversion and seeing all the work going into it, I would then get off my butt and finish the next step. Thanks man. ![Thumb](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/thumb.gif)

i1aroc- You have got me off of my butt several times to get busy on the build. Steve and bmf have also been a big influence to me as well.
Steve I wish I had a TIG and the skills to weld aluminum. I think I will end up going to school and learning that process when I get a few less projects to do. My next big purchase was going to be a plasma but I think I might just go with a TIG. I passed up a TIG a few months ago, it was a Miller with the water cooled unit and all. I could have grabbed it for a deal. Being I dont know how to TIG it wasnt a great deal at the time. I can barely MIG much less TIG. The method I have is sort of crude with the spool gun but is much better than arc welding aluminum.

I received the PCM mounting bracket today from Ironworks. Great quality and fast shipping! It was $30 for the bracket and $15 for shipping. If you go to their website and cant pull up the parts go to the pics section and scroll down. You will see a pic of a bracket. Click the icon and all of their parts will appear. You can email them and they will give you their address to send money through Paypal to. Simple process and friendly folk. The web address to Ironworks is: http://www.ironworksspeedandkustom.com/

I am going to see where the factory harness allows and go from there. If it will reach the passenger fenderwell it will go there. If not it may go on the firewall as far away from the headers as possible. I am trying to avoid cutting and splicing X number of wires if at all possible. I will keep you informed on what I find out. If you get to that point first let me know.

Nice bracket you built! I was thinking about sending mine to one of our vendors and have it plated. I need to see what the cost will be before that happens. I may do that or powder coat it. Then again a rattle can has its name all over it if the two other options are not cost effective.
I finally got a belt to fit after the third attempt. I brought my old belt in with vice grips attached and we measured it 10 times and agreed on a 73 3/8" belt. Well that would even come close. Ended up going with a 75" belt that fits perfect. My indicator on the tensioner is on the correct line for a new belt. I did find out an easier way of installing the belt. Put it on everything but the water pump and then pull the tensioner and slide it right on. Since the water pump pulley is smooth it slides right on without having the belt in the way while trying to move the tensioner.
