yea.. it depends on your goal i guess, although for 4 grand I would be building a stroker 6.0L... and prices seem to be very market dependant.. I'be seen c5z rollers go for 7500, last one had 10K on it..

Well 4k would only be enough for a short block 402/8 right?

depends on if you do the work or have it done I could do a long block for that. again depends on your goals, could do a cam/heads 6.0 for wayy less than 4500... and make more than 405 hp.. .

I agree w/ c6matt on price. $2-$3k w/ PCM, sensors, accessories. Can be had for as little as $1.5k w/ a few items removed. Although, should say that a good short block alone could also go for as much as $1.5-1.8k. Kinda depends on the seller & the specs.. $4.5k is a bit steep. Although, he may get it...from the right buyer.

a gm LS3 is $5300

You can get a L92 with low miles for $3500-$3800

LY6,LQ9,LQ4'S $800-$1500 complete
car-part.com

so for a LS1 even though it has 26K is highway robbery......

Scroggins dickey has sales on it LS1 short blocks and long blocks all the time to the tune of $2500-$3000 so why pay $4500 for a used motor...

Fugg the vette tax..... when the motor is out the vette, nobody would ever know but your pockets ........

LS6 got different pcv setup, heads, cam, and the block is slightly different but not to any significant advantage.

LS6 or LS1 either way its still a 5.7L, and for $4500, I would buy more cubes 6.0+, why waste it when your gonna want more down the road......

Still overpriced.... period, you can come up with a million excuses why you should pay $4500 for an 03 LS6 if it makes you feel better....

I paid less for my LS2/4L65E with 40K harness and ECM/TCM...... but hey, you guys are the experts.....lol

Only real advantage of the LS6 over some others option engines would be the Iron vs Alum. block.. only advantage if you need to save weight for racing (60-80 lbs?)

LS6 heads has a good Valve train (valves, springs, retainers, etc) but nothing you can't upgrade any other heads with.

X2 and the lightwieght valves, but hell with most aftermarket cams you will need a spring kit too......

The vette tax is epic here.....

Would you stop. "Highway robbery," "can get this & that." He has already said that he's trading, if anything, for it. Further, $4500 for an 5.7 LS engine complete turn key is not highway robbery. It's more than most of us would pay, but not out of the question. Between $2 & $3k has been the going rate & is noted in this thread.

I don't give a sh*t about what you think or whether you like it or not, the facts are the facts and what your saying is subjective to your own opinion, but the fact is he can get a low mileage 6.2 L92 for that price and cheaper...not to mention 6.0.. This is fact not some subjective opinion you developed...... So no you need to stop with the bull and uninformative facts.... trade or no trade period.... Your spending too much time worrying about what I am saying..... You need to stop hating.....

$4500 for a LS6........ is high....period

If he parted the motor out he would not even get $4500

$1000 for the shortblock with 26-30K ($2-2500 brand new from scdp on sale)
$500 for the heads
$400 for accesorries
$250 LS6 intake complete
$200 for the harness
$150 for the pcm ( I have bought ECM/PCM's from LkQ for $100)
$2500

So where the fugg does the $4500 come in?

think again hauz

Bozz

If you think that motor's expensive, wait 'til you pay for the swap! The motor and transmission are the cheapest part of my swap. Imo, too much money for that motor. Good luck!
