Default 95 s10 ls1 build

i have had this s10 for about two years now, i bought it with an lt1 in it and it ran really good, it was fast enough for me in the beginning, however, after crapping out on me twice in 3 months, i have now decided to give this nice truck an update:

i bought a 5.3l and bored it to an ls1 to stab in there and here is the build so far:

forged rods
forged pistons
ls7 lifters
torquer v2 cam on a 112lsa
texas speed 7.4 pushrods
ls2 heads with procomp dual springs
new timing set
ported oil pump
new main and rod bearings
ported and polished tb
nitro dave's 50-150 wet kit

transmission will be the 4l60e that came with the motor
full manual valve body shift kit
z pack clutches
and ill be moving the column shifter to a rachet floor shifter

also bought an eaton worm gear type locker for my 9in so no more 1 tire fire!

ill be posting pics of my progress soon, enjoy!

here are the before pics:

I had that same truck (well 1999 Somona) the day I brought it home I opened the hood and said "it needs a v8"

If I still had that truck today it would have a ls based engine in it.

Good luck with the build!

Can't wait to see how this progresses, Thinking of building my wife's S10 Blazer with an LQ9, EPS cam and LS6 Intake and T56 behind it.

did you have to do any firewall mods to make the 4l80e fit?

Very little "clearancing" on the pinch weld seam at the front of the trans tunnel. Like bee minor . I may have a picture I can post when I get home...
And had to do a custom driveshaft and crossmember. But I highly reccommend it. The trans is awesome.

heres the best one i have.. it wasnt much just hammered the pinch seam with a hammer, you can barely tell anything was changed...

my truck weighed 3710 with me in it, hard toneau, power mirrors/windows etc, 6.0/4l80e/12 bolt and with a bone stock converter and 3.42s it went 13.20@106 with 1.90 60', and with the same bone stock converter, 3.73's and a 150 wet nitrous kit it went 11.57 @ 116. with a 1.70 60'.
now its got a TC-78 turbo, ls6 cam, 73lb/hr injectors, 3500 stall, and hoping for 10.99 on pump....

What do you think a 3200 stall converter would do to your 1/4 mile times?

i think a 3200-3500 converter wouldve drastically helped, like 12.50's n/a (were talking stock 2004 6.0) liter shorty headers no cats thats it. (didnt have ls6 cam or anything ...

Are you running cal-tracs or traction bars?

when i ran last year i just had a stock ZQ8 "traction shock" setup... the third shock parallel to the frame on the passenger side... i welded the bracket from the stock rear to the 12 bolt and reused this setup, it worked excellent for anti-hop, but with regular shocks and no cal-tracs it allowed the truck to squat too much.. it literally bottomed out on the bump stops when i launched with nitrous.
(truck also has a 1" lowering block)

i will be running cal-tracs and a good set of adjustable shocks this year tho hoping to 60' in the 1.5X-1.6X range with no trans brake and only the 3500 stall..hoping to launch with 2-3 psi boost footbraking...who knows

this was last year stock rear suspension..

Can you get to the bell housing bolts? You've got a lot more room between the radiator than my jimmy has. It's in the stock trans location afaik.
