First test fit of LS1 & T56!!!!

I finally got the motor and tranny mated together and put into the car for the trail fit. I must say, it fits like a glove and looks like it belongs in there. Now the fun begins.... wiring, clutch hydraulics (everything still has to come back out to put the clutch on), and exhaust. I have about 3" between the exhaust ports and the wheelwells, so I don't know that my plan to "customize" my sidepipe headers is going to work. I'm now thinking that I should just use some LS6 manifolds and put an undercar exhaust in for a while. It'll be about $1000 cheaper than custom headers and Jet Hot coating.

How was your clearance on the steering ram? I think I'm going to just pull the mounting bracket and add a 1/2" of metal to it.

Looks good, I seem to be going backwards on mine again.

I don't recall off the top of my head. Gonna have to look at it closer. I know that it clears when the wheels are pointed forward.

Yeah I did. Haven't had much of a chance to get back to you. When I had made my engine mounts, I decided to move the engine forward a few inches. Not a lot, just enough to clear up some issues. So on mine, the two mounting holes in the bottom of the tranny just happened to be in front of the crossmember. I had a mount welded to the frame then used a rubber mount for an auto. The holes lined right up with the trans. I used a spacer (nuts) to raise the mount up a little and it fits great. I can crawl under there and take a pic if you would like.
