I have been laying pretty low lately and working on finishing our basement, but spring is just around the corner so it is time to start finishing off a few loose ends before the driving season begins.

Nothing major as far as mods go, but I have been driving the car as much as possible. I have been to Holley LS Fest the last two years and my son & I are going this year also. He will be driving the Camaro there and I plan on signing up for the All Access pack, but we will see.

Don't know what my future plans are for the Camaro. At times I want to sell it and move on to something else and other times I want to go all in and mini-tub, upgrade the brakes, forced induction, etc. , etc. I'm in no hurry, but I have an itch to do something....

It's been quite a while since my last post and for the most part I have just been driving the Camaro, but to be honest I have gotten a little bored with it. Then back in April, after renting a C7 Corvette I was seriously thinking about selling the Camaro. I have had the car since 2004 and thought maybe it was time to move onto something new.

Then it happened. I came across a Magnuson TVS 2300 setup and LS3 heads off a 2010 Camaro for sale that sparked my interest. I have always wanted a TVS setup and after some negotiating, we agreed upon terms which included cash, my 243 heads and LS2 intake for his parts.

The engine mods will be split into two phases as I have to have the car running for my son & I to drive to the Holley LS Fest on Sept 11th. The event is a little over 4 weeks away and it is just not possible for me to comfortably install everything.

Here is the plan.
  • TVS 2300 running 8psi boost and producing somewhere in the low to mid 500rwhp. I'm looking for longevity here not a max effort build.
  • LS3 heads with PAC 1218 springs, new seals and Brian Tooley Racing trunion upgrade
  • LS9 cam
  • CSTV fuel module
  • 4l80e transmission with TransGo kit and 3200-3600 stall
  • Caltrac bars and additional rear suspension work
  • Install battery disconnect, driveshaft loop and miscellaneous items
  • Install Holley EFI setup if I have any $$ left.

Phase 1 - Install LS9 cam, new oil pump, LS3 heads with new valve springs, seals & trunion upgrade, LS3 intake and update the tune. I have already ordered the parts and they should arrive in a few days!

Phase 2 - Install the TVS 2300, CSTV fuel module, 4l80e trans & stall converter, update accesory drive for Camaro spacing, install Caltrac bars and possibly convert over to a Holley EFI setup if the money tree isn't dead by then.

Here is the motor waiting for the new parts. I still need to remove the radiator, grill and finish cleaning the piston tops.

A quick pic of the C7 I rented. The car was an absolute blast to drive. I put over 400 miles on the car in one day and I consider myself very lucky to only get one speeding ticket.

Looks like a solid plan. Are the heads really from a LS3 or L99 ? Glad to see you re-energized about your Camaro again. Those C7s do seem to be a bad *** car.

Any other pic more looking down on the WP/heater fiting? I trying to see how they look.
Thanks for any info/insight.

The casting numbers on them are 821 and they came off a 2010 Camaro SS.

Do you know if the car was auto or stick? Auto=L99 w/ solid intake Stick = LS3 hollow stem

If yours are solids, do you plan on switching to LS3s?

Thanks for the PNs and forthcoming pic. !!!

Rocketrod,
Did you purposely tap the WP (Depth) until you got the correct position of the 45* fittings ?

thanks,
Jim

No, I actually went to deep and had to use a little rtv to stop a small drip, which you will see once I post the pics. If I were to do it again I think I would have just left the stock fittings on the WP.

Well finally after a few setbacks and change in plans, I started the car with the new heads/cam/intake. You can definitely tell there is a cam in the and I now have good oil pressure.

Many thanks go to a few local guys: Rex, Todd, Dave and Jon for lending a helping hand, parts or advice when need.

Nice, did you have to lift the engine slightly to remove the cam? Or by removing the rad it was enough.

Removing the radiator and a/c condenser gave me plenty of room.
