Default Help with fuel line...

I am using the corvette/regulator filter for my 72 blazer project. I only need to run a feed to the motor. I want to run steel tubing but have no way to make the flare that goes into the end of the filter. How do you do it? Pics and part numbers please...

If you don't mind running a compression fitting, you can use the Dorman 800-155 to connect to the filter and then cut off the other end and use a compression fitting to connect it to your regular steel line.

Look into one of the fittings in this diagram, im pretty sure one of these part #'s will work.

I found it here on LS1 a while back for a Ford Mustang Fuel tank to Vette filter conversion. I believe it may work for you as well though.

i'm trying to not use the 6AN fitings and stainless line. I'm cheap and i only need about 4 feet of line total. Has anyone used anything else?

If you don't like the idea of the compression fitting, you can still cut one end off of the 800-155, place a 3/8 nut over the line, double-flare the end, use a 3/8 inverted flare union and connect it to an off the shelf piece of 3/8 steel line.

This method can handle the fuel pressure and not leak versus the compression fitting?

There seems to be plenty of people here and on other LS swap boards that use the compression fittings. You need to use good ones. Personally, they make me nervous, so I'm not using them.

As long as you make a good double-flare, my second suggestion will work fine. I was planning on using the 800-155 and then using the nylon line after that, but I might do what I just suggested to you and eliminate 4-5 feet of the nylon tubing from the system. There is really no way around starting with the 800-155.

I think the tool to make that double-bead is like $140, definitely not worth it to solve this one problem.

If you arent in a hurry, you can send me the info on how long of a line you need i believe its 3/8 for the feed line, I can flare the end for you and send it to you then you can mold it how you want! If your happy you can send me the cost of the line via PP.

And I wish i only spent $140 on my flare tool... I think i paid $450... Damn Snap-On truck...

TF600A? I'm sure it's a nice tool... but...!!!!

I just checked on the one I was thinking of... the cheapest I see it now is $189. I think it's neat, but I'll probably never need one again.

I just found a guy on ebay who is selling the exact fitting I suggested you make.

For a quality compression fitting look into Tylok or Swagelok they make a stainless steel compression fitting that are rated up to 300 P.S.I. Which is way more fuel pressure that a LS engine will ever need, the corvette fuel pressure regulator and fitting I bought from Street & Performance comes with a 3/8 & 5/16 compression fitting to 6an and work just fine. They are pretty much one time use unless you buy extra new inner and outer collets and then you can reuse the compression fitting

Nope, that only has half the die's mine does, and it doesnt have the Push connect GM flares. Mastercool makes the Snap On kit. And Im telling you I love using the Hydraulic flaring tool!!! Its so much nicer than using a twist type!

Would this be the same flare as a break line? Sorry, i don't know proper flaring terminology...

Many auto parts stores will make a double flare for you.

Check around.

Yes, double-flare is the same type of flare you would make on a brake line.

That guy on ebay is selling that line for about the price you would pay just for the Dorman piece and you'd still have to flare it.

I'd probably buy one from him myself, but a friend had the tool to do the push-connect flare or bead or whatever it's called, so I'm going to just do it all myself this weekend.
