Default My LS1 w/T56 JZX90 Toyota Chaser Drift Car build

My LS1 JZX90 Toyota Chaser Drift Car build from Edmonton Alberta Canada

Well I’ve been working on this car since September 2011, below is a picture of my 1992 Toyota Chaser that I drove in the Drift Mania Canadian Championships West Pro Division from 2009 to 2011. It had around 420whp at 18psi out of a 1JZ-GTE inline 6 cylinder with a HKS GT3037s single turbo set up.

At the link below there is some more pictures, and a link to my year end video:
http://clarion.com/ca/en/newstopics/...ftS/index.html

Unfortunately I had a major accident with a 04 GTO in September 2011

Later that week I tracked down another Toyota Chaser, but this one was auto, and had a non turbo junk inline 6 cylinder motor. But got it for CHEAP.

My original plan was to pull my 1JZ and pop it into this car, so I pulled it out and ended up selling it.

So I stripped the car down and took all the parts that I needed, kept them as they are rare cars in North America, and tossed out all the wrecked stuff.

Got the new car into the garage, stripped out the interior, pulled the junk factory motor out getting it prepped for the swap and the roll cage

Installed my sub frame from my blue Chaser with a 2way differential, SerialNine solid mount sub frame bushings, Weld diff bushings, Project Mu e-brake shoes.

Installed my aftermarket tie rods, modified steering knuckles, coilovers, and MKIV Supra front brakes

Got my 6 point roll cage installed

Painted my interior and roll cage

Ordered up my motor from Cleveland Pick A Part, they were very helpful with sourcing a GTO front sump motor and transmission set, and helping me get everything cleared through customs to Canada.

Test fit the motor for clearance, and fit just perfect! Except for the transmission tunnel, we needed to modify it a bit.

Started to build a new transmission tunnel

Got the motor all mounted with some custom engine and transmission mounts we built

Transmission mount, mocked up

My Vertex Aero kit showed up from my Sponsor Vertex USA, that will get put on during paint in May

Gutted out the air box so I just have defrost on full power and nothing else, then reinstalled my dash into the car

Got a custom one piece drive shaft made up

Started my Painless rewire of the car, getting it to work off of my factory switches for signals, lights, wipers, etc.

New clutch rated for up to 700hp thanks to Clutch Masters!

All of my Clarion gear for my car and tow vehicle and my WIREZ wiring showed up. Love my Sponsors!!!! Thanks Clarion.

Installed a Wilwood clutch master off the factory pedal assembly

Remote reservoir

Pedals

Sent the car out for custom headers, and while it was out I took my old dash and built my center console and gauge cluster

Custom headers!

Passenger side is one piece, and driver side is 6 piece, right now they are out getting ceramic coated

Trunk power kill wiring

Wirez power distros

And mounted my Mishimoto radiator, thanks to Mishimoto for the radiator too!!! I will be getting new hoses for it.

Enjoy, more posts to come!

Your build looks awesome man.. do you have to do anything to the power steering system to prepare it for drifting?

For the power steering, all I'm doing is new lines with the factory power steering cooler and then my modified tie rods (inner and outers), modified knuckles, and modified lower control arms.

As for the motor, just keeping stock for now, with all the bolt ons, headers, intake, light weigh flywheel, and a custom tune. Next year will be a heads, cam package

funny, i told drift guys that the LS would be perfect for them 2 years ago..
but you'll need to get used to low rpm or at least not needing to rev as high

Time for a small update.

Made my Autometer dash cluster, with a quick connect plug

Got the headers ceramic coated

Built the center dash panel, for my Clarion Navi deck (in race car yes),

Rolled the fenders, and test fit my kit getting ready for paint

BLUE!!!!

My Vertex Kit is painted now, with some spare factory bumpers

Got some power steering lines made up

Fuel lines and fuel pressure reg

Heater lines

Installed my modified knuckles, lower control arms, and tie rods

Way more angle now!

Hope to have running later on this week or next,
