The low lash solid roller install started yesterday. We made a command decision to go ahead and pull the motor to do it. One reason was it would be a lot easier to work on the motor while it was on the stand and also to go ahead and restall the torque converter.

I think it will take some doing to get this car down to 10.99 in the quarter mile. Unfortunately this will not be an apples to apples horsepower comparison regarding the installing of the LLSR camshaft because of the restall of the torque converter. Here are some pictures.

Thanks. You have a well sorted out car and it is about to become even better. My car is more of a compromise in some ways. Maybe this December as it looks like there will be a track rental day I can go to. They are a little more lenient.

Got a call from the mechanic and the T&D rockers are hitting the head. He is going to look into the problem. Maybe a slight bit of clearancing of the rocker arm and maybe little on the head. We shall see.

Update. It looks like I have the early L92/LS3 heads(2007) and they do not have the machined relief right behind the rocker arms like the later heads do. So they will have to be ground on. Also it appears that the 7.425" push rods are way to long. Maybe something around 7.1" will be needed. Things never go easy.

Regarding the Vararam VR-X intake manifold, last week I sent them an email asking them where they are at for a delivery time and never got an answer. On Monday I tried calling them but got a recording each time. So, I have no updates.

Just thought of something with the .300" shorter pushrods. If I do indeed need .300" shorter pushrods maybe my Holley valve covers will fit without a spacer. I am running the factory equivalent solid roller lifters.

Over at the shop this morning and this is the latest. After careful measurement we have to use 7.070" long pushrods. No shims were necessary with the T&D shaft rocker mounts with my heads. Going to have to grind on the heads a little for more rocker arm clearance.

The Holley valve covers will not clear the rockers. I have the UMI 1/2" spacers which we will use and they also will have to ground on some to clear the rocker arms.

Just received word on another forum that the Vararam VR-X intake manifold is still on track. He did not give a release date. I sure hope so as that will be icing on the cake for me.

Here is a group of pictures showing what needed to be done in order to fit the T&D shaft rockers on my L92 heads or LS3 heads. 5 more pictures to follow.

Are those 3/8 pushrods? And did they have to grind all the way through into the accessory bolt hole?

They are Manton 11/32" push rods. No on the accessory bolt hole. If it is the boss I think you are looking at, that happened at the junk yard when the motor was pulled. They used a bolt to long. That makes that head a passenger side head only and I have a bolt with sealer so it will not leak.

By the way we had to trim the lower heater tube at the firewall 1/2" and the same for the hose. Plenty of clearance now. I was also worried about the spark plug wires with the addition of the 1/2" spacer but they will work just fine. We did swap the valve covers around so that the filler/breather is now on the drivers side rear. I did this so that there will not be a problem if in fact the Vararam VR-X intake manifold does become available.

I want to add a couple of things before I forget. We called Manton Pushrods up a 9:30am in the morning asking them if I could have new pushrods that same day(Thursday). They said yes and would have them by 2:30pm. I drove out an picked them up and they were ready on time. That is excellent service.

Also my Granatelli spark plug wires did fit with the 1/2" raised spacer. I had kind of checked it out ahead of time but one is never sure and was glad to see that I did not have to get new plug wires.

Speedtigger above got something like 30rwhp and around 18rwtq increase with a switch from his hydraulic cam to the low lash solid roller cam. He has a 6.0L motor. I did have the stall on the torque converted increased. So that will drop the dyno numbers somewhat and will not be an apples to apples comparison.

Yeah, I've seen his build. His thread is what swayed me onto the LLSR when I do my 416 LS3. These LLSRs' just rev so nice. They sound so much smoother & quieter IMO.

Amazing timing on your post. I got word that he got the motor running last night. I just got back from the shop and it is amazing how quiet the motor is. Even the mechanic was amazed at how quiet the motor is and he deals primarily in solid roller shaft rockers. He is mostly into high end drag racing though.

I am very glad I was able to get the car into his shop as it turned out with the mods we had to do. If we had known ahead of time it would not have taken quite as long. Now I have to make an appointment for the dyno.

Update. Here is a link to a video to hear the motor running. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Motiv...539?ref=stream

Took some pictures of the final installation showing the spacers and the swapped Holley valve covers. I swapped the valve covers in order to have enough clearance for the Vararam VR-X intake manifold or maybe the Holley COPO Hi-Ram.

Drivers side valve cover with 1/2" UMI spacer.

Showing the swapped valve covers with the breather and oil fill now on the drivers side rear. Had to swap PCV hoses with the filtered air now on drivers side rear.
