Default New "LT" engine series announced to replace the LS series

Not sure why they couldn't come up with a name other than LT1 for it. Even the LS names are from the 70's. http://www.corvetteonline.com/news/b...-block-reveal/

Looks like a less 'turbo friendly' manifold...at least its not cast to the head

I also heard that it is far more difficult to crack the computer codes, so I don't know how well this will work for swaps....when it becomes affordable I mean.

The direct injection is what will suck for hot rodding.

I guess we will learn to adapt and overcome.

interesting, I'm guessing the added mount pad on the drivers side lower front o0f the block is the new fuel pump location ?

hmmm, didn't see that at first. Very old school if correct

Actually on second look....could it be to hold bracketry for a PS pump? I don't see a pulley for it on the engine

It's for something else, the fuel pump eccentric on the cam is at the rear, so where will the fuel pump mount ?

That triangular lobe drives the high pressure fuel pump, so it must sit on the engine. I wonder if there will be a secondary in tank pump. Check out the perimeter bolt valve covers. It "appears" as though the heads might interchange. The splayed valve technology is pretty trick...I can't believe they are calling it an lt-1!

There will be an in tank pump as well then the cam will drive the high pressure pump for the direct injection.

Well I guess they put more time into developing it than they did in choosing a name. The third LT1? Or is it going to be LT1 the 3rd???

This new engine is going to be great. Why is everyone but hurt about the lt1 name? The ls series was used already but nobody complains About that.

Most liklely will have electric power steering, so there won't be a place for a pump.

because it's confusing and unnesessary. It's not hard to come up with something that hasn't been used already. SR Series. JQ Series. XA Series. See? Easy.

In 3 years when some of these things are out on the market, I don't want to have to dig through 400 Craigslist postings to find the "correct" LT1

Yeah, I have faith Holley or Edelbrock will find a way to stick a fuel leaker and rotary spark gap unit on it.

The high pressure pump sits in the valley under the intake and feeds the new inboard fuel rails. Seems they should have pulled a lot more than 450tq/450hp out of it though. Its an all new design with virtually no carry over parts. I can't see only 14hp extra with DI and all the new tech involved. Looks like a huge waste of money for the minor improvement in power.

cant be as difficult as bmw, and there no shortage of people tuning them.

in this picture, follow the hard lines from the fuel rail towards the back of the valley. look at that, high pressure pump right above the lobe that actuates it.
yes, there is a in tank low pressure pump to deliver fuel to the high pressure pump.

ive been dealing with high pressure since around 06, working for bmw.
