Good cam for 2800lb LS6 BMW
So I'm starting to collect together the parts I need to swap an LS/T56 into my 2003 Z4. The car weighs 2800lbs (no driver/passenger and full gas tank) and the rearend has 3.46 gears.
I found a stock LS6 long block and will be using an F-body T56.
So here is what I plan/want out of the car:
-daily driver (so reliability is key)
-7000RPM MAX shift point (would rather shift at 6500)
-380-400rwhp
-LOPE! I want LOTS of lope (the stock LS6 would give plenty of power, I'm swapping the cam to give personality)
Because most of my "spirited driving" happens on mountainous/canyon/twisty roads with lots of up-shifting/downshifting, I'd rather have a very strong mid range. Not looking for "impressive numbers" on a dyno.
Advice? It's a daily driver and I'm leaning towards the tried and true TR224/224. I had this cam (on a 112LSA) in my Camaro (10 years ago), however, I recognize that a lot has changed over 10 years and I'm now dealing with a 800lb lighter car. Is there something better out there to suit my "goals"?

If not te 224 class of cams, You might look at the Hot Cam or the ASA OEM cam. They might prove to be good for the mid range twisties your looking for. But there are many aftermarket ones out there to look at. Might try posting in one of the internal engine sections. Maybe have Pat G spec one out for you.

Nope you wont have to fly cut at all with this cam and stock cast ls6 heads and you will get a lot of lope! I have a MS3 on a 112 lsa so im speaking from expirence. But to be honest it makes a lot of power but I dont think I could daily drive this cam.

Low end torque doesn't bother me ,the surging kinda gets to me. But I think my bigger problem is i don't have enough converter(2800) and it tries to push through stop signs/red lights. But you will be manual so you wont have that problem.

I agree with it being much for an auto car that's daily driven. I still have the stock truck converter and I find myself having not driven the car for 2-3 weeks at a time (to be expected).

Don't go with an Ms3, period.
I would look into a 228R on the lowest LSA they offer, it is proven and would easily meet all of your goals. You most likely would make over your Rwhp goals, definitely meet them. If you want more lope, idle it down some.
It will have good lope and you can shift it at 6400-6600 RPMs without a problem.

daily driver?
lets recap
here is what you asked for
-daily driver (so reliability is key) you should really get an electric car
-7000RPM MAX shift point (would rather shift at 6500) why? cant pull the r's to 7K?
-380-400rwhp thats a pretty specific number.....most of us on here are headed to the 500-600 range. cant handle the HP?
-LOPE! I want LOTS of lope (the stock LS6 would give plenty of power, I'm swapping the cam to give personality) personality AHHAAHHAHAH what are you talking about? you dont get a cam for personality. + you i guarantee you couldnt even tell us all here what causes a cam to lope. personality? you should have stuck to moms prius

Oh ignore him. He's just some pissed off little high schooler. He was trying to sell a bare LS2 intake for $225 to which someone was going to buy. I kindly mentioned that SDPC was selling complete intakes for that same amount so now he is all butt hurt. At this point he PMed me
and has made posts in a number of my threads like this just proving his immaturity. Children...
hey if you want to offer advice, why dont you offer advice and be usefull to everyone rather than trying to make someone look like a fool.
