The other project I'm working is the A/C. I bought a block for the compressor so I can put removable hoses from it to the stock connectors under the rt side of the car.

With the throttle pedal swap complete. it fells like I gained 50hp. Bad news is after about 4-5 trips it set the 0507 code again, it doesn't seem to run any different after it sets though. when I read the freeze frame it shows different throttle positions on each sensor, don't know if someone can fix this while tuning? Any ideas?

I've really enjoyed your build thread! I am from Houston and I have a stock 1991 964 C2, and I really like the idea of adding a 996 LS swap to the stable someday. My dad lives on Caddo lake...maybe I can come check your car out in person next time I am in the area?

Fierofly,

glad you made some progress with the throttle pedal. The only thing I could suggest for your codes is. How many splices do you have? If your wires are spliced multiple times between the pedal and the ECM it can cause problems. Also I would contact Jon at PSI. He has a wealth of knowledge about pedal>ECM>Throttle Body compatibility issues.

As for me I had to change #6 piston and move the car across country. I got the new piston in and everything seems ok. I'm going to pick up close to where you are. I'm still running the Porsche pedal but haven't taken it WOT yet. Good luck!

BTW, saw the car a couple Saturdays ago at the gym on base. Saw you back it in while I was about to start my PT test, wanted to come by and say hi but didn't have a chance.
Car sounded great from the track.

I've got 2 soldered connections on each wire now. I used the stock Porsche wiring that goes from the front to the rear of the interior so I wouldn't have to remove any interior parts again.

good to see more progress, sometimes i wish i would have don this to my car after the motor came out rather then build the stock turbo motor.

Yep, This car is so much fun and gets so much attention. The only negatives so far are the Cruise and the PSM will never work cause the Porsche computer can't control the engine RPM.

These pictures show the fuel sending unit with the 3.8 (55psi) bar fuel pressure regulator attached and removed.
Also the wiring job that is required to eliminate the variable fuel pump controller, so the pump runs full no matter what RPM.
I'm replacing the pump with a walbro type 255, and the regulator with a 5 bar (73PSI) to get a better fuel flow, I was getting 55psi idle and would drop down to 46psi while revving.

Installed the 5.0 bar regulator and the walbro 450 pump, I now have 82psi idle and will get as low as 74 reving, runs great.

Are you tuning this for the new pressures? I had thought generally the naturally aspirated engines were setup for 58 psi.
thank you,

Doug

Have not tuned it yet, still running on GM off road 480hp stock tune. Instructions that came with crate motor say 60psi constant. It seems to have a little more response and I have yet to set the 0507 code after about 100mi, I was worried it was a little too lean with the old pressures, worst now should be too rich.

Got it. Good to know you have better engine response. The ECU should use the O2 sensor to adjust AFR via injector opening times at idle and non WOT settings.
At WOT it will run richer, assuming the fuel pressure remains above 60. Any way to see what the pressure is under WOT? If it drops significantly under revving, I would wonder about a long WOT pull.

Is the gauge view-able while driving?

I know you aren't asking for any advice here. Was just hoping the engine isn't running lean at WOT and also curious about the results for some learning.

Nope, can't see the gage at WOT. Don't think the computer has anyway of recording, I'll get it tuned one of these days.

Amazing build. Any updates on anything? Cruise control, etc? Looking to start a swap soon into a 99 c4. Do you have a round about number of $$ spent so far?

Updates, been driving it a lot (5k so far). The 5.0bar regulator seemed too rich so I replaced it with a 4.0bar, pressure is now in the 63'ish range, no I still haven't tuned it or got the A/C serviced. Cruise control not on the short list yet either, will have to do more research. I've probably got around 11k, not including price of car in it. Could have been done a little cheaper I'm sure, live and learn, win some here and lose some there I always say. Thanks again for all the kind words.

Michael - up above you mention the 2 GM throttle pedals, but I don't think you were ever specific about which one you bought first, and which one you replaced it with. I'm assuming the one on the right is the first bought, and the one of the left is the one you ended up going with. Do you have a part number or know what application the pedal on the left is for? Knee deep in a new LS3 going into my 1982 Volvo 242....

Where did you get the black air box off the throttle body?
