Wow!

I must say, some of those comments are really... silly.

The article says "where it's expected to make more than 500 hp".. I don't think people understand that this motor should put out around 525 hp with completely stock parts. I see a fair amount of comments that say there are inline 4s that produce that much power..

We could make a LS12 that could put out over 2000hp, but that's not really useful. We couldn't put enough car under it to make that desirable. With the blower we added, we're going to try and have the 240 sit around 800-1000hp.

I love the look and design. I hope it sounds good as most 12 cylinders I could care less for the exhaust note compared to a V8..just something about more than 8 cylinders. Like the Viper! One of the worst sounding sports cars.

At least they nailed it with the awesome 'Vette-based engine' headline... nothing like popping your hood and hearing 'oh you got the corvette engine in there? What did that cost you?'

Plus there are 4 extra cylinders on the far end of the first 8 from the oil pump and water pump.

I didnt read all 16 pages, but are you guys using a wire edm to split the crank, cam, heads, block?.. I use them everyday, they will cut and hold tenths all day (.0001)..

cool project..

I'd like to see:

the V4 with 45mm Mikuni's in a mini sprint or a shifter cart.

The V12 with a 180 degree crankshaft, a dry sump, LS7 rods and pistons and an all carbon ITB setup and a proper carbon airbox.

Speaking of that, now I need to go back and look at the pics for the oil pan setup.

I wonder if that last half of the Crank welded in at 180* from where it's at now would make a difference...
Thats a billet crank. Also if you notice each rod journal has a "sister" journal between the two halves of 6 giving a 120 degree separation between rod journals. If you spun the right 3 journals 180 you would have a 60 degree separation between journals.

I'd like to know the firing order and the degree intervals between firing. With a block having a 90 degree bank angle and the crank journals being at 120 intervals, it has to be interesting.

My vote is resistance welding. Its the only way I can think that'll seal the oil galleys and water jackets. Also as strong as the original block. Precision would be very difficult but in the end it would he very effective. Love to see the 4 cylinder beat up on some imports.

It seems everyone would love to have one of these engines....

I think the OP should have like a lottery for one of these completed engines, each ticket could be like $5.00. Seeing what the view count is on this thread the OP would make about a million dollars and have to only give out 1 engine......

Powerball ticket < V12 lottery ticket

I think Tony is spot on. If the dimensions are right, I would seriously consider switching out my V12 for this one. Put me down for tickets if you start a lotto!

Can you share any details on your Mark II BBC "M.M." engine. Not many of those around, and such an upgrade compared to the "W" engines.

Great work on the V-12. Maybe all this intyerest will spurn GM to put one of their V-12's into service?

peace
Hog
