With the new firing order from a custom crank/cam you can match the newer Ferarri/Lambo/Jab 2-11-10-3-6-7-12-1-4-9-8-5 firing order every 2 rotations and power pulses every 60 degrees (like the 120 degree power pulse of the internally balanced 3.4L v-6 ). I love the balance of those 3.4Ls !! It's actually the base of the new gen v-6 camaro that is making over 300hp stock.

Due to EFI and welding together gives you something like a 1 - 8 - 4/4 - 3/3 - 6/6 - 5/5 - 7 - 2. this means one entire rotation is double power and then the next rotation is single power. The engine would surge like heck and probably snap the crank before to long. The problem is the 45 degree firing pulse of the v-8 forces the overlap. you want 60 degrees with a v-12. I think the balance is a big, big benefit & smooth power. torque monster !!

1 x 4 3 6 5 x 2 (first 6 block)
x 8 4 3 6 5 7 x (second 6 block)

reprogramming the EFI/spark to fire 6 times a rotation instead of 4 might be a really big task, but fun !!!
About the firing order..

For those purists who have to have a 60 degree block with a 60 degree firing order, there are plenty of v12s out there to use. In our circumstance, we have a v8 firing order, with 4 cylinders added evenly spaced into it. If you look at it from the flywheel end, it has 4 evenly spaced long duration pushes with the 4 standard 90 degree v8 spaces between. We have the inputs into the crankshaft in an inline 6 firing order, Which means evenly distributed throughout the shaft. There are lots and lots of different firing orders you can use on a v12, which is the beauty of it.

The fact you can't see where it is mated is a good thing. That is a usable crank. We built the piece to be used in a v4, but decided to make patterns with it instead, figuring most who would want a v4 would want to boost it.

Realistically, its hard to build a ls1 v12 for less than 30-35k and make more than 76 cents a hour. One could spend probably 50+ if you want all the cool stuff like ls7s, forged internals and such. Not really that much different from building a high end v8. We currently have a complete ls1v12 (minus pistons/EFI) and blocks to make 1 more ls, and we also have a buick 215 based v12 and an olds 215 based v12 blocks, that could easily become rovers.

If somebody is seriously interested in making this happen, email v12ray@comcast.net

I'll answer any and all questions/inquiries

We have one motor almost complete that we're willing to sell for around 15k. We have parts for one v4 we can assemble for around 6500. If that interests you, contact us.
