Default Christmas Update

Happy Holidays!

Got some small bits of time in. Got a few pictures as well.

Steering column is put back together. new lock cylinder, new turn signal switch, cruise control/turn signal switch and steering wheel installed.

Also got my line lock, rear proportioning valve and master cylinder replaced.

Where can I get a 4" intake hose from to come off the throttle body? Thinking of just getting 85mm MAF from a truck.


Looking for an exhaust that will not have a drone to it while driving. Hooker? Muscle Maxx?

Also searching for a hose connector to go from 1&1/2" to 1&5/16" in order to connect my lower hose from the radiator to the thermostat housing.

Air raid u build it kit is great option for an intake hose. Make sure she is breathing cool air or the ecm will pull timing , hurting performance. ( ask me how I know) lol

A good idea of parts waiting a long time befor going in (lifters) submerge in oil and leave them until needed.

I'm really digging looking back at your build pics. This is gonna be so much fun.

I will look into that kid! Thank you. I am planning on having the filter go all the way to the driver's headlight area. I am thinking that would be the farthest and coldest spot in this engine bay.

I coated them in oil and the cam before installing them. I was hoping to have this engine at least running by now. Unfortunately my wife has had other plans for my time. I did put in 5 quarts of oil in it and turned it over by hand multiple times. Hopefully it should still be good.

My wife said for Christmas that she wants to have a baby by next christmas once we get into the new house. So 9-10 months to finish this. I think it can be done. Won't be perfect but it will be my driver.

Merry Christmas to you.

I got a hose reducer from NAPA for around $10-$12 Mine is 1-3/4" to 1-1/2" but they have others. They even have them on E Bay the part number on mine is 901. All it is is like a piece of hose with a little lip on one end. You slide it on and slide the hosr over it and clamp it .

I hope this helps

I am using a standard gm yoke for a 4l80e. The driveshaft from center u joint to u joint is 44.5 inches long. Keep in mind I have carshop 1" setback plates as well.

Default Long time since an update

So as the title says its been a long time.

Ran into an issue with my 4L80e, the rear speed sensor was broken, then the bolt holding it in broke and is so badly corroded into the transmission I need to drill it out and tap. I got so frustrated I ordered a new monster transmission for 550hp with a 2300 to 2500 stall converter that should be here in a couple weeks. I threw it up for sale for $600 or I will just keep it for a rebuilding less.

I have made up a radiator fan bracket and need to install it. The lower hose I pieced together with a homemade coupler. For the heater hoses, I just need to get some heater hose and heater hose connectors to mate it to the heater core.

The brakes are all done besides setting the proportioning valve which has to happen after/while driving. My wife actually came and helped me bleed the brakes to get that finished.

My friend and I got the psi Conversion harness started and fed through the firewall. Almost all of the harness is hooked up besides the transmission part. We are searching for a find a spot to mount the PCM and the fuse box under the dash. So we started to assemble the dash more in hopes of trying to find a spot.

I ordered and got a new horseshoe shifter and cable assembly from shiftworks. I installed that as well (as far as I could without a transmission).

The fuel lines are installed. I used nylon fuel line. I mounted the corvette fuel filter next to an evap block above the rear differential. I ran the lines up the drivers side next to the brake lines and using many of the brake line hold down spots. I wrapped them in wire loom to help protect them.

What are people doing for the evap purge system in their swaps? Not much I see going on for it.

I am going to order the dynatech exhaust, I like the sound of it for what I have heard and it is a different tone than the constant flowmaster and borla that I have had for so long.

My wife has commented how the seats are not as "comfortable and plush". Maybe a newer set from a G6 or Grand prix would fit in on the old tracks? That is another problem though for another day.

Looking good bro. You're not too far from me. ( ~60 miles ) in Roch-cha-cha. LOL.
I'll be looking forward to your new exhaust. I'm curious to hear the tone. I think I'm gonna go with the same muffs as KWizzz. Ultraflo mufflers IIRC.

If you mean connection for the steam vent, this site http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Jaguar_V-8.html has pieces you put in the top radiator hose to connect the vent line. decent price and they have all sizes.

Thankfully the radiator that I got already has a steam vent plug in it, so I just have to run a hose from the vent at the block to the radiator. It is just a really small hose...

Can you post the part number to the Griffin radiator you ordered? I ordered one as well and now I'm worried that it's going to be too small like yours is.

So a couple minor things.

Ordered a $50 silverado 4" air intake from EBAY with a huge #$& filter. It actually fits in quite nicely. I will have to trim the one bracket and make one up to mount from the upper radiator bracket, but it fits and uses the stock 85mm MAF. I will again have to lengthen the wires to reach the MAF or cut down the tubing drastically. That would however put the filter right in front of the engine for a lot of hot air.

BTW it was a considerable amount less to buy the cheap silverado kit then to buy individual pieces...

I have picked a spot to mount the ECU using the original and slightly trimmed camaro bracket. I installed it to the plastic y-pipe that goes up to the stock defroster vents. Back it with some heat resistant insulation and I think it will be okay and it will allow me to keep the glove box and eventually a radio or cup holders.

Trying to come up with a solution for this EVAP Charcoal canister vent to the air intake/filter before the MAF. Is there any small canister assemblies that could be bolts up somewhere so I do not have to deal with the fuel vapor smell in my garage.

Back into the snow storm in upstate NY...

Cooling system is put together finally. Took way longer to get the fan situated and clearing the radiator without rubbing on the fins as well as mounting it to the core support.

Just needs to be filled and bled. The cooling fan also needs to be wired up.
