oops havnt changed the signature for a while. its about as light as its gonna get now. id be interested to see the corner weights.. see what im actually workin with.
everything under the dash is gone, factory fuel tank and all the bumpers are gone, but the ls/t56 is supposedly around 30-50 lbs heavier than the factory 6 cylinder and trans, and i have this whole frame and splitter (probably around 25-30 lbs) on it i just finished building today..

I mighta missed it in all the pages, have you had it to a dragstrip?
Made some friends at vir during hyperfest! Also got the front splitter 80% done. Designed, cut, and welded everything right in the garage. Materials cost about 120 bucks from a friend of mine at a Olive Hill Weding in roxboro, if anyones around the area, theyre great to work with!
The front splitter completely changed the driving experience for the better. No more front end lift! Even at 100 mph its as smooth as a brand new car! I still need to curve up the side edges like i had planned but for the most part, theres not as much air flowing through the front and down under the radiator, its all just pushing down on the front end now! And looks damn good doing it. Gonna add some splitter support rods just cause theyll look sexy.
Every S30 needs your splitter in their lives. I remember my SBF swapped S30 would be super sketchy @ speeds nearing 130 mph. I dig all legit work your doing, keep it man
Got my rear diffuser/fuel cell protection panel made! Used the same 1" square tubing as the front, welded together all around the fuel cell and to mounting plates that bolt to the frame and also old bumper absorber holes. Didnt want to exceed 10 degrees of angle, i dont need too much downforce in the rear, it feels pretty balanced as it is now for my style of street driving i will be doing in the car. i kinda want to curve up the sides at a 45 or 90 degree angle too to straighten the air a bit better and to add some style to it. It just looks pretty plain. It doesnt have anything on the underside of it to channel/straighten air, but i dont think the car is at that level where it needs those little fins to increase efficiency.
Anyone wanna throw in on a paint job for me to get the fender and doors to match? I need to get that done, but just dont really spending the few hundred bucks to have someone do it lol
oh also.. i gapped a brand new (beautiful) lt1 automatic ss camaro pretty bad last week. it was delightful. with a rolling start in 2nd, 4000ish rpm maybe 30mph, by the top of 4th i was 7-8 cars ahead. anyone know anyone in charlotte with fast cars I can be friends with? Moving there in a week!
so ive been doing some racing lately. whooped up on a new '16 camaro with exhaust and a tune, embarrassed a 370z that had a vortech v-3 on it (met him at a car show, real cool guy, very clean 370z) embarassed a supercharged 5.0. Waitin for my good friend to come cruisin with me in his cammed c6 z06 one day hope yall like the cheap paint job!! also, got my rpm gauge and fuel level gauge working lol, got the radio wired up and speakers in it.. and i gave dolly a bath for the first time...ever...
ill post up some pictures of the interior when i get a speedo and carpet LOL..and a seatbelt for the passenger
and sorry guys. my BIGGEST pet peeve are those stupid fu#&ing tow hooks that ricers put on hondas.... buuuut i kind of need one in case i actually need to tow it since the factory hooks are removed and would have been inaccessible anyways.. dont hate on um too much, im gonna powdercoat them black one day
Got a free ls6 manifold from a friend of mine the other day who didn't know what he had lol! bought him a case of beer as compensation. He said it was a tenant of his' ls1 intake he bought for an ls swap but the project went a different direction and gave me the manifold instead of tossing it! I found a buyer for the stock ls1 manifold and just bought some 42lb injectors for cheaper than I'm selling the manifold for... so now just for the price of a retune i should pick up another 20? hp?? and not be pushing my old stock 28lb injectors to 90%+ duty cycle at WOT!!
Merry Christmas yall, hope the holidays treat yall well
Rebuilt my transmission over the past week. Was actually kind of fun like a puzzle to put back together.
Word of advice to anyone who wants to rebuild their own t56, follow the instructions in the service manual, and look up what other people have done.
It's not hard, you just must be meticulous and patient in your work.
Oh and also, if anyones looking for the T56 service manual, I searched on google forever, through others forum posts online, and couldn't find anything until I dug through the tremec website:
The direct link to the .pdf is as follows:
Got the transmission back in, got everything wired back up, and that new transmission shifts beautifully.
Dont be scared to tear through those t56's people! I 100% successfully replaced all the synchros, the whole third gear synchro assembly, replaced the 3-4 aluminum shift fork with a steel one, replaced all the shift fork pads, and put it all back together with just a handful of tools, and the t56 service manual.
FINALLY got her on a dragstrip, only thing was, I didnt drag race haha. Did some roll racing in fear of my little factory half shafts snapping at the u-joints. Some roll racing was enough for me to have some fun!
