All the tabs needed to attach front end components have been made and either welded or tacked in place right now..... I took the car down off the blocks and moved it out pf the way so I could get the mess cleaned up..... Next thing will be to remove everything off the front of the car so I can weld it all up and I still need to mount the radiator and trans cooler.....

Took all the front sheet metal off it and worked on getting all the welds finished up on everything that was tacked on so far.....

Looking good Frank (as always!). This thread is definitely part of the inspiration I had to finally stop screwing around with my POS "tinkertoy" 110v welder, & finally step up to a real machine... I've barely gotten started with it, & I'm already making better welds than the old machine ever did.

Keep up the good work!

Well, it's been longer then I thought since I posted..... I got busy with other stuff, had a computer issue with my desk top and then messed my left eye up in late December..... FUN FUN FUN..... Anyways, there was some progress made..... I got the trans cooler mounted, then went ahead and made the tailpipes so I could get the exhaust out of the way..... I also mounted the ac condenser.....

Then I was working under the car cleaning up the notches for exhaust clearance I put in the trans cross member reinforcement in between the front subframe rails, so i could make the filler pieces to weld in the notches..... This is when I got bunch of **** in my left eye, it was messed up pretty bad for a couple weeks..... When it got all cleared out it was still extremely light sensitive, I didn't want to weld anything at that point..... So I pulled the trans and and went through it, now it's all bagged up and ready to go..... After that I pushed to car off to the side and got the motor out so I could work on it..... I got the block cleaned and ready to go, polished the crank, measured it and installed it in the block..... The I masked the block and painted it.....

When I was checking all the components for the shortblock I found there was a piston that had a fracture close to the pin hole(probably hit by the lifter that came apart in it)..... I was able to find a brand new set of pistons which upon recieving I checked for size and weight, they were identical to the originals..... So yesterday I assembled the pistons and rods, file fit the rings and installed the assembly's with new rod bolts in the block.....

What's the black generator-looking thing on top of the accy drive? I see it's not the AC compressor or the alternator and doesn't look like a power steering pump.
