Not going to paint the whole thing right now, the nose will be stripped and epoxy primed for now..... I want to get up and running again..... The rest of the body I will do one panel at a time when I feel like it, it will get torn down for paint after all the panels are stripped and epoxied.....

i am painting it al myself..... The more light you put to it the more brilliant it looks, the highlights on in the curves and such are crazy.... It looks better in person then in pic's, I just tried to give an idea of what it really looks like.....The color called True Blue Firemist, its not real expensive paint but seems to hold up nicely..... I get it from TCP Global..... Not matter who's paint it is it's the Firemist metallic that gives it the pop as you say.....

It looks like it POPS pretty good in the pic. It must be crazy looking in Person

I wish I had a friend local that knew how to do really good paint jobs and body work. I’d be his bitch on the weekends just to learn it.

When are u hoping to have this wrapped up, and ready for some shake down runs?

Jim

Got the Lizard Skin touched up on the underside where changes were made..... Then I put the front suspension on..... Cleaned up the rack&pinion and was ready to bolt it on when I realized I need to install the front crossover brake line before the rack.....

Frank, by any chance do you have any pics of the seat mounts you built? And any of the parachute mount under the car?

Looking forward to an update on the Comet!

I lost some pic's due a computer going down 4 years ago, and this dumb *** didn't have any back up.....

I don't have any good pic's of the chute mount, they made it when they did the cage..... The very ends of the rear frame rails were plated up and a 2 inch 3/16 wall tube was welded across them, and the tube the is attached to that where the outer mount slides in.....

Seat mounts for which seats?

Doh, had your car confused with another build. Thanks for the explanation on the parachute mount. Glad to see you're still at it on the Comet!

What height split monos did you use? Calvert has stock and +1 or -1. I like the ride height of your car.
I know you had to redrill the centering pin holes to relocate the rear 1/2" back. Maybe they fixed that in the interim.

Thanks, they are great..... I have been using them at work for the last few years, they are much more compact and flexable then regular hose..... And an teflon hose just sucks to work with..... The quick clip hose is also nice because you can cut it with a regular fuel hose cutter, so ther is no need to pull it from the car to crimp it.....

Made a little more progress on Sunday..... The breather tank is mounted and the drivers side hose is made and in place..... I need different fitting to finish the pass side hose..... I also made the throttle cable fit this throttle body properly, some dumb *** cut the throttle cable too short so I ordered a new one so I can get it right.....

A couple pic's.....

Last couple question, hopefully. Did you use the standard width front control arms or 1" narrower? Fox or SN95 spindles? Any tire clearance issues up front? Any idea how much caster you built in? I appreciate the chance to ask and learn!

I used 64-66 Mustang control arms..... If I remember correctly they are 1.5" shorter then the ones they were selling for the Mav/Comet application..... The Mav/Comet ones with vented Wilwood brakes were very wide at the wheel flanges on the hubs, put the tires to close to the fenderwell edge for my liking..... I used 89 Fox spindles..... My caster is adjustable from about 2 to 7 deg + the way I built it.....
