Update on brake booster - just ordered an 8" dual brake booster. When it gets here and I get it installed I'll follow up. Oscar and Eric thanks for your input! Doug I do appreciate your info on the hydroboost as well!

Fine job on the fab work. I also use the CAD program often when fabbing new parts. "Cardboard Aided Drawings"

Nice job. This is a premium build...should be a great driver.

I still have my collection of cardboard templates from my sedan as well as my wife's flathead powered roadster. Great for trips down memory lane.

Yea...Ken's '37 was nice!! His collection of "blower cars" is super nice!!

Thanks Oscar I'm definitely not alone on this build. I'm thankful for many great resources and will introduce them as we go along. One of those resources prefers to remain anonymous, but he is my father in law and has many builds to his credit which include countless drag cars and also some street cars. I recently ran across an interesting picture that included both of our cars before we ever knew each other at a dragstrip in the mid 80's. The blue Chevelle in the foreground was my first car, and the Ford Fairmont drag car in the background was a hand made creation of his from the ground up, and that is why I call him the "fab director" .

ps - the Fairmont had a Chevy motor of course

I want to apologize for so much fab work leading up to the LS install, but no one has complained so I'm going to stay on course. I've enjoyed my first documentation of a build, but I honestly wasn't planning on this much fab work. Now back to the car....

The front mounts for the leaf springs are "roughed in", so I'm moving to the rear mounts. Here is the simple gauge used to lay out both sides.

How the frame was cut. The larger hole in the wood guide was used for the front mounts. Cutting the rear in the picture.

Extra holes filled and welded. This area will also receive a piece of 3/16 plate on the inside for some extra strength. Piece of pipe was carved on for a filler piece to tie the frame back together.

My sweet wife came up with this sketch for my birthday present....WOW! She looked up an old friend who is a commercial artist to see if he could remember how to draw a car. Thanks Matt!

Karl it's a very good starting point. I think she did a heck of a good job on this all by herself....she does have a little car background . We saw the wheels at the street rod nationals and also the burgundy/maroon color. I also like the blue that was on Kens 37 coupe. The sketch is an electronic version so changing colors or adding pinstripes or graphics or whatever will be possible. It sits pretty low in the sketch, and I'm not sure if it will be possible to run it on the street like that but it sure looks cool. We are a long ways from adding the pretty stuff, but it really helps to see where we are headed during the fab stage. Melisa used pictures of our car, Bill and Donna Arnolds car, and other ideas of hers to come up with what you see, and the picture really doesn't do it justice as it has much more detail to it. I plan on printing a larger one to hang in the shop soon.
