It's not just your perception, it is a reality.

Todd,
Yes, yes and yes!
What you and Holley/Hooker are doing has set the bar for quality and engineering on these swaps. No one else in the industry is doing it to your level of detail and certainly not communicating the information back to the customers.

yes you and holley / hooker are changing the game. to have some one like you taking the time to post the pics and answer the questions speaks highly of the company and you. especially you. i know that it takes alot of time to keep up with all the sights and post. i hope they are giving you a big bonus for it because it sells them lots of product.

as far as pics i just wanted to see how much was cut for the t56 depending you what mounts you used. i already ordered my long tube headers.

Not at least in the last five years that I've been here we haven't. Holley could have put together a project before that using the same type of universal fit parts that everyone else used back in the day.

Default Thanks

I wasn't sure. I want to put a ls3 in a 66 and wanted to use your kit if you made one.

No problem. I wish there were some swap components I could recommend to you (other than the Holley 302-2 oil pan), but I've not had the chance to evaluate that application and discover its shortcomings that need to be remedied.

Update 1/16- Hey guys, I finished up the final validation of the Hooker crossmember design geometry this past week and will post up fitment photos of the TH400, 2004R, 4L60, T56 and 4L80 transmissions next week. For those brave enough to tackle a 6L80 install into their A-body, you'll be able to use the crossmember for that application as well, but I won't be supplying pictures for it. We're expecting the arrival of the engine brackets in our facility any day now, so we're moving right along.

These pics show the T56 fitment in the car with the engine being mounted using the Hooker forward position brackets and the transmission being supported with the prototype crossmember. The cut in the driver's side of the tunnel is bigger than it will actually need to be due to the fact that a big portion of that area was covered by a patch panel that someone had installed previously and I removed it.

Todd,

That all looks great. The tunnel surgery seems pretty minimal.

Any pictures of a 4L80 installed?

Whats the distance between the end of the tailshaft housing and that body stiffening rib?

The 4L80 is already out of the car Andrew; the 4L60 is currently installed.

No worries Todd.

I was just looking at the pictures that you posted and the 4L80 length in the forward position looks to be pretty close to my current set-up with the Richmond 6 speed.

I'll measure the distance to the brace from the tail of the 4L60 and then measure the difference in length between the 4L60 and my 4L80 mock-up case so the measurement you want can be calculated.

That crossmember looks sweet. Any idea on pricing on that? Would it happen to fit a 67?

Thanks Alwhit00, the crossmember as shown is the fitment prototype and will take on its final form with a last round of CAD tweaks...that's where it will shed some weight and get fine-tuned appearance wise. As far as fitment in a 66-67 car is concerned, I have no way to say how compatible it may or may not be at this point.

I bet it would only take some minor changes to get those components to fit the 64-67 cars. As to getting the 6L80 to fit I have seen some open up the trans tunnel like a sardine can as you did for the 6 speed manual to get it to fit.

I'm going to withhold judgement on the compatibility with the earlier cars until I get the chance to put my hands on one. I know you would also be able to use the crossmember to install a 6L80 as the distance from the centerline of its output shaft to the machined mount pad is the same as the 4L60 and about 1.25" further rearward...you would just have to slide the crossmember back on the frame rails and drill new mounting holes. That doesn't fix the inherent major problem with using that trans however, which is the fact that it extends so far below the centerline of the output shaft and produces horrible ground clearance in the worst place possible.
