I am in the middle of my install. I have the forward engine mounts installed. With f-body mounts. The engine mounts are bolted all together. The 4L80E is jacked all the way up. I inserted the Holley cross member. I have the cross member in the proper holes from the instructions. The second and fourth holes in the frame rails. The cross member seems to be about 1" to far back. Do I have an incorrect tail housing? Also the transmission is touching the tunnel on the passenger side and the speed sensor on the drivers side. This is with poly motor and trans mounts. I also installed new body mounts. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks
I've found the poly trans mounts to be taller than the stock rubber mounts. Do the instructions call out for a specific mount to be used with the 4L80?
Its a 68 Malibu 307 no a/c car. It had a big block 427 before the LS. If I go to the next hole forward then the mount I believe would be to far forward.

I'm limited as to what assistance I can provide until Monday when I'm back at work and have access to my files. Your trans mount and extension housing are not creating an issue, that much I can say.

I will try to get the next set of holes to line up. Its not like this thing is gonna run tomorrow. I still need to mod the wiring harness and shorten the driveshaft. Thanks for helping out. Please let me know what you come up with.
Whats crazy is the pictures show the farthest rear hole in the cross member being inline with the rear cross member bar. My farthest rear hole in the cross member seems real close to being inline with the rear bolts for the foot.
Ok I just tried the next hole forward. Which is about 2.25" This put the cross member to far forward. Also I only had one hole in the cross member and frame that would line up.
I pulled a piece of parachute cord tight across the 2nd hole. I then measured from the cord to the middle of the trans mount holes. It was really close to 1" behind the transmission mount.
I took these pictures of the cross member in the 3rd hole.
3rd hole from the rear
This foot does not look like the one in the picture. The one in the picute has 5 holes. This one has 3.
This is the other side. Seems that I need a hole drilled about where the rear support bar runs across the mount pad.
Just ordered the wrong headers I think.....2289-1HKR..... Will these work? 6.0 with a 4l80e in a 68 Chevelle. Wanting to use the forward mount brackets. I'm going to be really upset if I spent $$$ on headers that "say" they are for my application but really are not.

The 2289 series headers were designed for 68-72 A-bodies around 8-10 years ago to be used with universal flat style engine adapter plates. The optimal headers to use with the new Hooker A-body specific engine brackets are the ones I designed at the same time as the engine brackets. I can't say if the 2289 headers will fit with the new Hooker engine brackets or not as I've never attempted to install that combination of parts together.

Are they new? If they are call Holley. They might be able to work with you. I know they have worked with me. Toddoky is a great example. This man is the Shizzz.
This is extremely frustrating when everything on the website says it will fit...... And with the black heart only offered in stainless steel and at $1,000 plus the 2289 seemed like the right choice. Now I am stuck with returning and paying an extra $300 for the "right" headers or taking the ones I ordered and beating them with a hammer.......

They will fit the car for sure, as long as you are using SB Chevy mounts and frame stands as it says on the 2289 listing page. The new brackets delete the frame stands and are based on the use of 4th-gen F-body LS engine mounts. The Blackheart series headers are better than the 2289 series headers by every measure of fitment/finish and you'll probably be pleased to know that we're working on releasing them in mild steel in the not to distant future if your project allows you to hold out for them. I won't personally ever use a mild steel exhaust component again, but I understand the budgetary needs of others.
The headers are arriving tomorrow and I'm sure I Summitt will work with me on a swap/return for the Blackheart headers. I'm cheap, but also know that when fit and finish have been done to the standard I have seen through these pages, $300 and the correct headers will be "money" when I'm not modifying a set of new headers! Thanks again for all your work and the clarification

No problem. I'm sure you'll like the Blackheart headers better due to their improved fitment, their availability with 1-7/8" primaries and their ability to be installed with the brake proportioning valve remaining in the stock location on the frame.
