I am going to order the new hooker header for my LS2 in my 65 olds 442 and was wondering if the 1 7/8 header has lots of room for steering arm and upper A-arms with the forward hooker mounts or if I need to get the 1 3/4 header.

I don't anticipate that you'll have clearance issues using the 1-7/8" version of the headers as I had no such problems fitting them on a 67 Chevelle and a 65 Lemans.

Todd,

Do you know when the header adapters for the mid-length headers will be available as well as the full exhaust? Also, any info on cross-member shipping? I ordered it on the 5th.

Thanks,
Jim

The part numbers for what's been released thus far is as follows:

71221008HKR- forward bias engine brackets
71221009HKR- rear bias engine brackets
71222008HKR- transmission crossmember
70201311-RHKR- 1-3/4" stainless mid-length headers
70201312-RHKR- 1-7/8" stainless mid-length headers
70101335-RHKR- 1-3/4" stainless long-tube headers
70101336-RHJR- 1-7/8" stainless long-tube headers

All of these parts are listed on the Holley website now with supporting information.

The first article production sample of the 3" exhaust system was built last week from the first run of production bends without any issues. This means production of the first batch gets a green light and I'm hopeful they will get welded and boxed up this coming week. The 2.5" systems are still a few weeks out as production bends have not been produced yet.

Hello Jim. If you are inquiring in reference to the adapters which connect the mid-length headers to the 3" exhaust system, the first run of production bends have been produced and are in que to work their way through the production process; I'm hopeful that they will get completed sometime this coming week. The adapters used to connect the headers to the 2.5" system are still some weeks away from being available as they are further back in the process. I just checked on the status of the crossmembers yesterday and confirmed that the assemblies have been received in our distribution facility, so I will send out some email pokes on Monday morning to see about getting them boxed up as soon as possible so they can be sent out.

I'll gladly recommend the new Hooker mid-length or long-tube headers to you, but their fitment in your car will be questionable if you are using any engine mounts other than the two sets available from Hooker.

I think you mis-typed... But 70101336-RHJR doesn't come up.

You likely meant 70101336-RHKR:

Any word on when the cross members will ship out? I ordered mine on the 5th of September and still no word.

Thanks,
Jim

I exchanged a couple of emails with our distribution facility this past week and they informed me they would be filling the crossmember backorders ASAP, so I'm going to assume they will get boxed up this coming week and shipped out.

I've read through this thread and it is great to see a product developed for the early A body cars. My question is would it be possible to use the Holley brand engine frame mounts and headers in conjunction with a stock transmission crossmember. I have a 65 Skylark with a SBC/T-400 combo. I would like to transplant an LS engine and retain my current transmission and driveshaft.

Yes, if your SBC is installed/positioned with the stock OE Chevelle frame stands, then you can use the Hooker 64-67 A-body rear-bias engine brackets to do what you are asking; those brackets maintain the stock location of the SBC engine/transmission mating plane.

Excellent news, Thanks. Are these parts available through retailers yet like Summit and Jegs?

Yes, Hooker components are available through those resellers, as well as others. Out of curiosity, how are you supporting a TH400 with the stock crossmember? Was the frame re-drilled and/or was the crossmember modified when the crossmember was re-located reward behind the stock frame hole pattern?

I slid the stock crossmember rearward and drilled new holes in the frame rails. On my 68 & 71 Chevelles those holes are already located in the rearward position. I also moved the crossmember on my 66 Chevelle that was originally equipped with a powerglide.

I assumed you did something of that nature being that the 67 model year frames were the first available with the extended hole pattern to accomodate the TH400.

Todd,
Do you have any idea about the release of the trans crossmember. I ordered last month & it said release date 10/01, then 10/15 & now not available online.
