Default Went drag racing last night, give me your thoughts.

So the car is a 1986 Volvo 240. Aluminum block 5.3 engine, with 4" intake, and 85mm throttle body. Engine, and computer are stock, with hooker block hugger cast manifolds, into 2.5" into single 3.5". The transmission is a rebuilt t56, and the rear end is 3.31. The weight of the car, with driver etc, as it ran is 3400 lbs.

It ran 14.6 @ 96.... The car has been very fun, and I thought it was much faster than it ran. I plugged the numbers into some calculators online, and they estimate power around 230-240 rwhp. Does that seem right for this setup?

Stock cam, Your intake/Throttle/Manifolds might be gaining you 10 HP, 6-speed, 3.31 rear..

Yeah I would say that's about right.

96 MPH means you could get down close to a 13.99 with that setup. What was your 60'? That with your MPH would give me a better idea. Sticky tires or street tires? RPM launch. 3400lbs that is running like 300 rwhp.

The car still has an open diff, which isn't helping. I was on street tires, with a launch from about 2500, 60' was 2.2-2.4

Problem found...that car will see a 13 second pass with a locking diff and sticky tires.

Yeah, you need to practice driving it. That factory cam has got you running out of steam around 5000rpm; even a used LS2 cam will really give you a big boost in power. What RPM was it going through the traps at?

Something like TR220/220 would be a nice upgrade for the power dept. I agree with the others tho too. Need a posi unit and sticky meats. The cam swap tho I would think would get the trap speed up in the 100 mph range.

I would seriously think about a cam. Then a posi , better tires , dual exhaust etc... But I think a cam will give you the most bang for your buck.

The t56 could drastically benifit from a 3.90 gear.
