01 Firebird 4.8/4l80e swap
Ok so here's the rundown of the setup. Plan on throwing a turbo on it down the road but want to drive it NA until I get everything straightened out since this is my first build. This build was done with a friendly budget in mind.
Setup:
01 Firebird Formula
120k 4.8 off craigslist
4l80e with hd2 shift kit
bmr crossmember
efi source 3 bar map
80lb inj
pac 1218 valve springs
walbro 430 intank pump
holley fuel rails
aeromotive fuel reg
chinese head studs
$500 4.8 off craigslist
Everything looked good
Started tearing it down to clean it up and inspect it. Also lapped the valves while I was at it.
modified tray for ls1 pickup tube
modified tray for ls1 pickup tube
bought a 4l80e off a member on here
looked like it was just gone through, some connectors were broken so I replace the harness. Also installed the trans go hd2 kit, never tore apart a transmission before but watched denmah's video on installing the hd2 kit and it was pretty easy.
Found this beauty as a roller, 01 Firebird Formula. Was looking for a camaro but came across this and couldn't pass it up.
Also got the hood for it.
Couldnt wait to get started on it!!
Bmr conversion crossmember and spohn solid solid motor mounts
Bought a steel driveshaft off another member that was doing a similar swap.
Siemens dekka 80lb injectors. Cost 3/4 the whole engine!! haha
Yep....
Walbro 430 going in.
Going in
Getting everything connected
Almost ready for the first startup
Got wideband and boost guage

First Startup!! Had my pcm sent out for a startup tune. Got tired of not being able to look and change tune settings so I ended up buying hptuners..

-Tuned walk around of the car, had local exhaust guy put a temporary exhaust setup on it, the manifolds are facing forward because I plan onmaking a turbo hotside for it. He put glasspack inserts in it and I told him just to dump it down and back. https://youtu.be/7C3HRKAePtc

Very nice!! I am glad someone else on here is doing something very similar.
Any chance you could flip those manifolds the other side and see if 1 or both hit the shock towers? I think the passenger side would be fine, but the driver side a no bueno. I assume their are truck manifolds, correct?

thanks!
I always had them facing forward for the most part, I think I messed around to see the fitment one time and it was definitely not going to work out lol. I'm not sure if it would. Yes, truck manifolds.
